Chand Suraj Dwar

ओंकार पर्वत पर राजा मांधाता के पुत्र मुचकुंद ने एक महल बनवाया, जिसमें चार प्रवेश द्वार बनवाए गए। सबसे प्रमुख प्रवेश चांद सूरज द्वार बनवाया। महल के उत्तर दिशा में स्थित प्रवेश द्वार कावेरी नदी की ओर है। प्रवेश द्वार से हाथी पर बैठा आदमी भी आराम से निकल सकता है। इस प्रवेश द्वार की दीवार में पूर्व की ओर भगवान सूर्य की प्रतिमा और पश्चिम की ओर चंद्र देव की प्रतिमा स्थापित की गई है। चांद सूरज द्वार की विशेषता यह है कि पर्वत की सबसे उंचाई वाले स्थान पर बना हुआ है। यहां से सिद्धवरकूट, संगम आदि दिखता है। वहीं इस द्वार पर सुबह की सबसे पहली किरण देखने को मिलती है। इसके अलावा भी शाम के समय ढलते हुए सूरज के साथ चंद्रमा भी दिख जाते हैं। इस प्रवेश द्वार को बनाने में वास्तुकला का भी ध्यान रखा गया है, जो पुराने पत्थरों को तराशकर बनाया गया है।

The entrance to the north of the palace is towards the Kaveri River. A man sitting on an elephant from the entrance can also leave comfortably. In this entrance wall, the statue of Lord Surya is placed on the east side and the statue of Chandra Dev on the west side. The specialty of the moon sun gate is that it is located at the highest place of the mountain. Siddhavrakut, Sangam etc. can be seen from here. At this gate, the first rays of the morning are seen. Apart from this, the moon is also seen with the sun rising in the evening. Architecture has also been taken care of in making this entrance gate, which is carved with old stones.
