Hi Team,
Media Programs are great! I’ve been running one now for about 6 years here. Students learn to create pieces for the School under deadlines. We have found this to be particularly useful in regards to productivity and retaining student interest.
The bonus is, the students see real world meaning to their productions which are guided through Marketing and then released online. They get a real buzz seeing their work available for others to view. I try to create it in a professional environment with real world deadlines and expectations. Students learn about target audience, social media, marketing and then of course all the equipment side of the production. They get to use equipment that sometimes they don’t have access to until Year 11 or 12, and it gives them a real sense of purpose and refinement of their production skills.
I have produced some quality work with students using with minimal equipment. The technology out there now is amazing if you know what you’re looking for. We are currently working on slow motion filming…

Hi everyone,
We do the same thing here at WSHS. I've run our Audio Visual Club here for three years.
Our photos and videos are uploaded onto the school facebook page, as well as onto our new YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxdRD8Y7KHi6oKPTld1yo_A
The channel is pretty new - only since the end of last year - but you get the idea. Kids love seeing their work promoted. I have student from Years 7 - 11 (Media runs 7-10 at the moment).
We also encourage students to enter the many competitions that are available in photography, filmmaking etc.
