Hi All
I am looking at teaching a bit of theory about editing to my year 8 students before to go through with practical activities. Would any of you have any resources about film editing history and type of cuts etc?
Thank you all
Augie Lobet
Hey Augie,
Look up Studiobinder + Editing Techniques on Youtube and you'll find a bunch of videos. Although I would recommend going through them first because they do like to use Tarantino in their videos so there may be some footage not appropriate for Year 8. Outside of that, you may find some good visual references on the Studiobinder website for what an edit "physically" looks like.
All the best,
Chris Gooch
The sadly discontinued Every Frame a Painting channel has a couple of videos on the topic, and are made by editors. An essential part of every media teacher's arsenal. https://www.youtube.com/user/everyframeapainting
If you want something a bit less theory-based, this Rocketjump Film School video has got solid practical terminology: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAH0MoAv2CI&ab_channel=RocketJumpFilmSchool
