Setting up your Google Classroom is the first step in syncing many different digital learning platforms at PS 48, from BrainPOP to the Google 'G Suite' Apps (Drive, Documents, Sheets, and so on) to Readworks.org, Khan Academy, Duolingo, and and and. You get the picture. Basically, most learning platforms that allows log in access via 'G Suite for Education' button. This will allow your students to leverage differentiated learning opportunities, show what they know, and provide multiple entries to learning (like audio or visual or speech-to-text) and so on. As you learn more, pay attention and reflect on other ways to incorporate tech skills into your classroom.
You will create a title, add your name, a classroom color for the banner. It's all very quick. Pay attention for your "class code." You will get a "class code" that every student will have to enter to "join" your class. Write it down, or know how to always find it in Google Classroom. After your students are in your Google Classroom, you will be able to quickly add their accounts to your classes for the BrainPOP Suite, Readworks.org, and other digital learning platforms that use Google Single Sign On (SSO).
***NOTE: Don't be surprised if one of your students does not have an account because they are new to PS 48, please fill out this short form or email Mr. Czarka! He will create an account for the student. This also goes for new students down the road.
You can use Google Classroom to add resources (like rubrics, websites, and so on). You can create assignments that students complete using Google Apps. You can connect the school to home with homework assignments. You can provide student feedback and grades within Google Classroom. There are tons of possibilities, and it can streamline your work.
