Max Schaafsma is serving the Lord in Milan, Italy with CEDE Sports. Max is a pastor in the church Punto Luce focusing on youth ministry as well as using sports as a tool for sharing the Gospel with teammates and friends.  Max partners in ministry with his parents, Michael and Nina Schaafsma.

When Covid hit Italy hard, ministry changed a great deal, but it continued!  While many church functions had to go online, new ministry opportunities arose as well.  Max continued to connect with youth and other members of the church using online tools for discipleship, fellowship, worship, and outreach.

Most recently, in October of 2022, Punto Luce and the Schaafsmas were involved in organizing and facilitating Franklin Graham’s evangelistic outreach in Milan: NOI Festival Milano.  In preparation for this huge event, more than 4,000 Italians completed the Christian Life and Witness Course (CLWC)—free training on how to share their faith in Jesus Christ. Max joined other area pastors in a 30 Days of Prayer Initiative leading up to the event. When the festival opened, over 13,000 people came together to hear the gospel preached in a Milan stadium. This great undertaking required a lot of time and energy, but it paid off as Schaafsmas saw God using the event to bear fruit for the Kingdom in their own church as well as across Milan.  It has been such a blessing and the Lord has opened doors for Max to participate in another evangelistic event: NOI Festival Rome!
