Dr. Don and Ilene Nagle founded Northern Light Ministries in 1998 and began the work in Mexico full-time in the year 2003, working under the provisional conference of the Free Methodists of Baja California.  The mission of NLM is to partner, prepare, send and serve mestizo (persons of mixed race) and indigenous (native or original inhabitants) servant-leaders with vision and passion to reach Mexico and the world for Christ. NLM also facilitates short-term mission teams from the US who participate through labor and providing the financing for their team projects i.e. house-churches, homes for staff, septic systems, roofing, painting, landscaping, etc. 

God is bringing indigenous people to the valley where they hear the Word and the gospel with eagerness.  From there springs a desire to evangelize and plant churches in the local area or to return to their villages in the southern states and bring the LIGHT to a dark world, a world that has often not heard of the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
