Love In the Name of Christ of the Kenai Peninsula is an inter-denominational Christian organization that works with churches and agencies in the area to provide assistance to our neighbors in need.

The Peninsula affiliate opened November 30, 1987 and networks with over 80 churches on the Kenai Peninsula, partnering and assisting with various needs.  Love INC is essentially a “Clearinghouse” for agencies and church ministries on the Peninsula. What that means is when a person with a specific need calls the Love INC office, staff gathers information and tries to direct them to the appropriate resources available, whether that is an agency like the Food Bank or a church ministry like a Clothes Closet.

Many times a client does not qualify for other services, or resources are not available to meet their need.  A set of parameters are used to determine if Love INC staff should solicit assistance from a church near the person or from their preferred denomination. This is called “filling the gap”. Sometimes assistance is simply listening to the people’s problem, demonstrating care, and offering prayer.

After providing services and making referrals, Love INC reviews the outcome. They follow up to determine if the immediate need was met or if there is a core issue that requires longer-term attention. The follow up also provides an opportunity for the recipient to become connected to a local church if he or she desires.
