Larry and Vicki Sharp served 21 years with Crossworld in Brazil as teacher and principal of Amazon Valley Academy and president of Missão Cristã Evangélica do Brasil. They returned to the U.S. in 1993, and Larry became vice president at Crossworld’s home office. After 20 years as an executive, he is now Vice President Emeritus and a business consultant for Crossworld.
Larry and Vicki serve full-time with Crossworld where Larry is focusing on leading missionary-driven followers of Jesus whose goal is to make disciples through business opportunities in countries where missionary visas are unattainable, but business people are welcome to bring their business to the country and can do that in the name of Jesus.
Larry continues to promote missions through business. However, most of his time involves working with God’s people in the church who have business skills and connecting them with kingdom business startups in the most unreached areas of the world. He speaks in conferences, colleges, churches, and on podcasts.
Vicki enjoys a variety of things the Lord brings her way:
Hospitality
Reviewing Bible lessons for prisoners (The organization is PFC, Prisoners For Christ)
Calls with grandkids who've "left the nest"
Bible studies and Bible memorization
Recording/organizing data
In 2020 Larry published The Greatest Missionary Generation: Inspiring Stories from around the World, a compilation of the stories of members of the great generation of missionaries. These stories show how the missionaries of the second half of the twentieth century prepared the way for God’s people of the twenty-first century.
In 2022 Larry published his 2nd book, MISSIONS DISRUPTED – From Professional Missionaries to Missional Professionals. Most everything in the world has changed since the outpouring of American missionaries overseas following the Second World War. Today, traditional “missionaries” are no longer welcome in most of the world, and Christian terms such as “evangelism,” church planting,” “conversion,” and “missions” can even be considered pejorative. What does this then mean for God’s mission of redeeming the lost in the 21st century? Read this book! You will not only be challenged, but greatly encouraged!
