Tammy loved growing up in Brazil as an MK (missionary kid), where her parents served as teachers at a MK school. Her experience overseas strengthened her desire to minister to the children of missionaries. Tammy attended college with the vision of heading overseas to follow her parents footsteps by teaching at a MK school somewhere in the world. Tammy's first 5 years of teaching were in Anchorage before heading back to Brazil to teach at the same MK school she grew up in.
After returning to the U.S. from teaching in Brazil, Tammy felt the Lord calling her to work with her mission organization Crossworld to establish the MK Care department to serve all the families working with Crossworld around the world. In 2018, after 13 years as the MK Coordinator, Tammy transitioned to Barnabas International to serve a broader community of cross-cultural workers and their MKs.
At Barnabas International, Tammy directs MuKappa International, a ministry that helps MKs (missionary kids), TCKs (third culture kids), and CCKs (cross cultural kids) adjust to the complexities and challenges of living and thriving in a "new" culture. Tammy is also involved in a new ministry of Barnabas International called Concourse, which supports adult TCKs.
