Pain and comfort during cycling: Are they related?
Our recent paper published in the Sports Biomechanics journal illustrates that cyclists often report feeling comfortable on their bikes whilst feeling pain related to cycling. This result indicates that comfort may not be a sufficiently reliable measure to prevent injuries in cycling. Also, body position on the bike was not different between cyclists with and without pain, which suggests that this element may also be limited in explaining the development of injuries. We still have a long way forward to understand the development of injuries and propose effective strategies to prevent these injuries.
