Deputy Fuzz is one of the Prairie People and a sidekick of Marshal BraveStarr along with Thirty/Thirty, Judge J.B. McBride and Handlebar.
Fuzz is a pudgy little prairie dog-like alien, one of the Prairie People, natives of New Texas, who serves almost exclusively as comic relief. Fuzz was similar to other sidekick creatures in other series of the decade such as He-Man's Orko and Snarf of Rankin-Bass's ThunderCats.
And he is also known as diligent, efficient, protective, understanding, trusting, social, friendly, unswerving, zany, zesty, dependable, even-tempered, polite, upbeat, thoughtful, benevolent, fearless, unconventional, zestful, zealous, determined, emotional, pragmatic, unselfish, tidy and civil.
His specialities, like all others of his kind, were digging, with even the miners of New Texas not coming close to the speed in which he moves through the ground, as well as high mechanical aptitude for building and repairing all manner of devices. BraveStarr affectionately calls him "l'il pardner". Fuzz seems to have trouble pronouncing Thirty/Thirty's name, rendering it "Doody-Doody".
Fuzz is older than he appears to be. When his cousin Scuzz struck a deal with a purple skinned prospector named Tex Hex to use the Prairie People as a slave work force, Fuzz was part of the workers. Tex double-crossed his mining partner Angus McBride and Fuzz took pity on the human and tried to release him from the ropes with which he would have been tied. Fuzz also found a holographic recording of McBride's daughter, which fascinated the little Prairie person so much that he kept it for himself. Fuzz was unable to help McBride when the cliff he would have been left on by Tex collapsed, causing him to tumble down and lose the ability to walk. But Fuzz did witness how the mystic Shaman came to Angus' aid.
20 years later Fuzz was still in posession of the holo-recording featuring a young J.B. McBride.
Scuzz struck a deal with a purple skinned prospector named Tex to use the Prairie People as a slave work force. In turn, Tex Hex double-crossed his mining partner McBride and decided to take all the Kerium they would have found for himself and Scuzz. Leaving McBride tied and gagged on a cliff, the rumbling of their mining cruiser as it lifted off caused the cliff to colapse and McBride to tumble down, losing the power of both his legs.
But Tex and Scuzz would have been too stingy for their own good. The ship would have been filled past its capacity and it failed almost immediately after liftof and crashed, leaving both Tex and Scuzz mortally wounded. The wicked Broncosaur spirit called Stampede took advantage of the situation. He was looking for a servant to assist him fight his archenemy Shaman and moldied Tex in his own image, restoring his body and giving him powers of transformation, destruction and sorcery. In doing so, Tex' face became more withered and bone like, and his brown hair turned white. Now known as Tex Hex, Stampede's servant's first act was to restore Scuzz back to health, although he did not gain any extra powers in doing so. Tex's cigar-smoking henchman and cousin of Deputy Fuzz - he was apparently the only Prairie Person to take up a life of crime. Like Tex Hex, he was mutated by Stampede, though in his case it was due to a bolt of energy shot by Tex at him after he first transformed, and it was possibly less of a transformation and more of a simple shock to him. As a result, he closely resembles a haglike human and has gray hair. Scuzz is often berated by the others for his constant smoking. Fuzz even apprehended Scuzz for this until BraveStarr pointed out that smoking is not a crime. Though why Scuzz would not be kept in custody for his real crimes remains a mystery. Unlike Tex himself, he is somehow able to go into Fort Kerium to mingle with the population and aquire info for the Carrion Bunch. Skuzz has also worked for other criminals not affiliated with the Carrion Bunch, like Two-Face and Morabund.
Wimble was a young Praire Person was was part of the Lost Tribe of Prairie People led by Mayor Gup. Wimble's father had traveled far away, and according to Prairie People Law, Wimble was allowed to chose a new, temporary parent until his real parents returned.
Having witnessed how Marshal BraveStarr and Thirty/Thirty fought against Howler and his Leaper Riders, Wimble chose Thirty/Thirty to be his new parent.
Although Thirty/Thirty was hesitant at first, he soon agreed to look after Wimble and began showing him how to use his lever action freeze cannon, Sara Jane. BraveStarr scolded his partner for teaching about firearms. This made Thirty/Thirty decide to enroll Wimble in Miss Jenny's school at Fort Kerium.
Miss Jenny decided to take Wimble and several of his new classmates on a field trip. But two Dingoes, Barker and Goldtooth, sabotaged the school But-Jet, causing it to crash land in the Far Desert, near Howler's territory.
Having crossed the desert several times before, Wimble was best qualified to take the lead and show his teacher and classmates the shortest way to the Prairie People village, which he knew to be 30 Echo-Miles. Along the way, Wimble began to gain his classmates' respect as he showed them how to find water in water cactus pods and which berries were poisonous.
When the Leaper Riders attacked, Wimple used his flying bolos to bring down one of the Leapers. Soon Thirty/Thirty arrived to defend the school party, followed by BraveStarr and Deputy Fuzz. After the Dingoes were defeated, even the class two most judgemental children, Brian and Judy agreed that they shouldn't have looked down upon Wimble just because he was different. And Marshal BraveStarr agreed that Thirty/Thirty did a pretty good job of being a parent.
Chief Tussle is the leader of the quiet race known as the prairie people.
Gup was the Mayor of the Forgotten Tribe of Prairie People who resided near Ambush Canyon.
When Marshal BraveStarr and Thirty/Thirty engaged in a fight against Howler and his Leaper Riders, Gup and his people appeared from under their secret hiding place to fend off the Dingoes. Howler had been terrorizing the Prairie People and asking them to pay a toll even though they had more right to the land than the outlaw did. Soon the Dingoes were on the run. But Gup was afraid Howler would soon return and that the Tribe's location had been compromised. BraveStarr assured him he would catch Howler and his gang before they had the chance to bother the Lost Tribe again.
Gup then proceded to explain the Prairie People Law that made it possible for young Wimble to choose a new, temporary parent.
