Stampede was an ancient demonic broncosaur of great mystic power whose only aim in life was to become even more powerful. He set his eyes on a powerplant on an unidentified planet or moon that was being protected by Shaman and his tribe. Shaman encouraged his people to protect the power plant at all cost when Stampede unleashed a horde of gigantic Broncosaurs against them, spitting flames from their mouths and laserbeams from their eyes. Shaman used all of his magic to face Stampede in astral form. But when Stampede threatened to attack young BraveStarr, Shaman was forced to reenter his own body to protect the boy.
And he is also known as sinister, thoughtless, accountable, mean, prideful, efficient, diligent, emotionless, smart, testy, ambitious, menacing, powerful, earnest, determined and erudite.
Stampede gained the power he sought and the tribesmen made ready to flee the planet in Totem-pole shaped rocket ships. But the power plant's energy proved even too powerful for Stampede to absorb, and as he expelled it, he destroyed his own horde of Broncosaurs and the entire planet. All but one of the escaping rocket ships also went up in flames, leaving Shaman and BraveStarr the last of their tribe.
Having managed to survive destuction, Stampede chose the planet New Texas to build himself a new base of operations similar to the one he had on the planet of the Tribe. Shaman sought out the planet to face his archenemy again and rid the universe of his evil. Knowing his rocketship would have to make a crashlanding, Shaman used his magic powers to draw asteroids from the field he was passing through to cling to his starship to form a wall of protection. The ship began to burn up upon entering the planet's atmosphere and kept gaining speed as it shot down towards the barren land. After a near fatal crash and burn, the rocket ended up on top of the mountain peak like a giant totem pole made of rock and metal. Shaman survived intact, but the strain had turned his hair completely white.
Stampede could sense that the man whose powers equalled his own had survived and immeditaly begain looking for a servant to aid him in his fight. He found two candidates nearby. A prospector named Tex had just betrayed his partner Angus McBride so he could keep the valuable Kerium all for his own. He had taken on a diminutive Prairie Person called Scuzz as his new partner, so they could force Scuzz' people to work as slaves. But the new partnership was too greedy for their own good and filled their cruiser past it's capacity. The ship failed almost immediately after liftof and crashed, leaving both Tex and Scuzz near death.
Stampede took advantage of this situation by molding Tex in his own image, restoring his body and giving him powers of transformation, destruction and sorcery. In doing so, Tex' face became more withered and bone like, and his brown hair turned white. Now known as Tex Hex, Stampede's servant's first act was to restore Scuzz back to health, although he did not gain any extra powers in doing so.
When Angus McBride was picked up by a Galactic Rescue Ship, the great wealth of the planet New Texas, Kerium was revealed to the galaxy. Stampede knew that the greed for Kerium would bring many settlers to New Texas, and ordered Tex to pick out the worst of them to form an army of terror.
The Carrion Bunch was the name of the gang of outlaws led by Tex Hex. Their base of operations is in Badlands, at the Hexagon.

Tex Hex, also called Tex the Terrible, is the arch-enemy of Marshal BraveStarr and one of the main villains of the BraveStarr franchise.
One of the first human prospectors to land on New Texas, Tex Hex was overcome by stinginess whenever a large haul of kerium was discovered. Tex Hex became a bandit, collaborating with the nefarious Scuzz to enslave his tribe, the native Prairie People.
After leaving his unassuming partner Angus McBride for dead, Tex Hex died when his craft crashed. Then, all of a sudden, Hex was raised as an undead sorcerer by the ancient demonic entity Stampede, who feeds on chaos and sought to use Tex Hex to be his primary agent on the planet.
Tex Hex is based in the Hexagon fortress out in the heart of the Badlands now, where he runs the gang of outlaws known as the Carrion Bunch and utilises them to sow discord on the planet for his master.
Character Background
Originally a good man, Tex Hex was corrupted by the promise of wealth that the Kerium rush promised, driving away the woman he loved. Stampede himself used this corruption and used it to transform a mortally wounded Tex into his enforcer and gave Tex his magic powers, including the abilities to shoot energy bolts, eliminate mountains, transformations and summoning creatures called fire snakes. Tex Hex displays a cantankerous, negative attitude and a penchant for sadism. He will not hesitate to maltreat a henchman for failure or if they just aggravate him. He is also shown to make and change allegiances at the drop of a hat in order to serve his own egotistical best interests.
The capacity still resides in him for good, as he permits a shipment of specially treated Kerium to be transported off world to assist and treat children with visual disabilities. On another occasion, Tex Hex shows mercy by not ambushing Fort Kerium on Christmas Day while BraveStarr was away on personal business, due to his ex-love being present there during the holiday. Tex regretfully wished her a Merry Christmas from a distance, choosing without regret to subject himself to Stampede's wrath for his deliberate failure. BraveStarr speculates that there might yet be hope for Tex Hex to redeem himself.
Earlier on Christmas Day, Shaman showed Tex his guaranteed future if he ever continued in his wicked ways, that he would be dead in just a few years. Tex was visibly frightened at the prospect.
History
Purple skinned prospector named Tex was persuaded by his mining partner Angus McBride to travel to New Texas in search of Kerium, the rarest element in the universe. He left behind his human lover, Ursula, who instinctively felt they would never see each other again. On New Texas, not only did they find a seemingly inexhaustible supply of Kerium, Tex also struck a deal with a diminutive Prairie Person called Scuzz to use Scuzz' people as a slave work force. He double-crossed McBride and decided to take all the Kerium for himself and Scuzz. Leaving McBride tied and gagged on a cliff, the rumbling of their mining cruiser as it lifted off caused the cliff to collapse and McBride to tumble down, losing the power of both his legs.
But Tex and Scuzz would have been too stingy for their own good. The ship would have been filled past its capacity and it failed almost immediately after liftof and crashed, leaving both Tex and Scuzz mortally wounded. The wicked Broncosaur spirit called Stampede took advantage of the situation. He was looking for a servant to help him fight his archenemy Shaman and molded Tex in his own image, restoring his body and giving him powers of transformation, destruction and sorcery. In doing so, Tex' face became more withered and bone like, and his brown hair turned white. Now known as Tex Hex, Stampede's servant's first act was to restore Scuzz back to health, although he did not gain any extra powers in doing so.

Tex's cigar-smoking henchman and cousin of Deputy Fuzz - he was apparently the only Prairie Person to take up a life of crime. Like Tex Hex, he was mutated by Stampede, though in his case it was due to a bolt of energy shot by Tex at him after he first transformed, and it was possibly less of a transformation and more of a simple shock to him. As a result, he closely resembles a haglike human and has gray hair. Scuzz is often berated by the others for his constant smoking. Fuzz even apprehended Scuzz for this until BraveStarr pointed out that smoking is not a crime. Though why Scuzz would not be kept in custody for his real crimes remains a mystery. Unlike Tex himself, he is somehow able to go into Fort Kerium to mingle with the population and aquire info for the Carrion Bunch. Skuzz has also worked for other criminals not affiliated with the Carrion Bunch, like Two-Face and Morabund.
