Ambrosa is an expensive alcoholic intoxicant, either golden or red in color.
The rarity of the beverage makes it valuable amongst the survivors of the Twelve Colonies; even during the war, 500-yahren-old ambrosa was not believed to exist.
Starbuck imagines being rich after finding many storage bins filled with ambrosa on Proteus, a penal colony that made ambrosa for the Colonial war effort. Were it not for the Cylon attack on Proteus, he would have become quite wealthy.
Pressure suits are worn by Viper pilots under their uniform in order to help withstand the gravitational forces exerted during high-speed maneuvers. Conveniently, the only time they are ever on display is when the female shuttle pilots are being trained as Viper pilots while most of Blue Squadron is incapacitated by the mysterious illness.
A contact sport with elements of football and basketball from the Colonies, played with two teams of two players. Teams are typically color-coded (Red and Blue).
The objective of the game is to score points by getting their ball in the other team's ball opening, either throwing the ball (referred to as a "sphere") into the opening or "dunking" it in at close proximity. Triad is played in a triangular court. Some contact is permitted between the players within the rules.
The game begins with having all the players hold hands to create a circle that the players (alternating between Red Team player and Blue Team player) rotate counterclockwise until the ball ejects from the goal post (where the ball was last thrown into), with the apparent intent of inducing a momentary loss of equilibrium into each of the players.
Once the ball is ejected, the players break the circle and try to obtain the ball. Once this is done, using a combination of team work, the players try to stop the other team from throwing the ball into the goal opening. Each player is responsible for making sure they stick to their opposite number, either attempting to block them from obtaining the ball or stealing the ball from their opposite.
During the game, players may block or impede the progress of their opposite numbers using non-deadly physical force or rough tactics. Such tactics, known as "blocking", include shoving or tackling their opposites aside.
The person in command of the ball can do one of two things:
Give up the ball by throwing it to their teammate (either through deflection off the wall or floor, or direct passing),
Or bounce it off a wall and attempt to regain the ball themselves.
There are moving violations within the game: once the ball holder stops moving, they cannot continue to move and must relinquish the ball by bouncing it off a wall or floor, or passing it off to their teammate. Both venues open up the opportunity for the other team to intercept the ball.
Such tactics are given terms, including:
"High, spinning deflection", a type of ball pass between players;
"Bodycheck", a type of physical maneuver against the opposing player where, essentially, the opponent is rammed into a wall of the court.
There are a few known rules to the game, as well as penalties for the following behaviors:
"Unnecessary blocking", which deals with attempts to push (or backhand) an opposing player after the ball has made its goal. The penalty for this act is to permit the opposing player a chance to score at the offending team's goal, similar to the "penalty shot" in basketball (Murder on the Rising Star).
"Rib-blocking after the score", which deals with a player elbowing a member of the opposing team in the ribs after that team has made the goal.
Fighting within the game results in the automatic ejection of the offending players. Multiple penalties made by an offending player may also cause the ejection of said player, as was the case between Ortega and Starbuck before Ortega's termination by Karibdis.
Pyramid a card game.Pyramid is a high-risk chancery game played with hexagonal cards; a Colonial version of poker. Starbuck is about to win a large pot when an alert interrupts the game (Saga of a Star World). Starbuck and Boomer play Pyramid with Boxey in the barracks (with jellybeans as the stakes instead of cubits) to help keep him occupied when Apollo fails to report back from a patrol. Boxey wins a large pot by having a "full pyramid".

A Cylon Mine is an explosive spaceborn device deployed by the Cylons in the Straits of Madagon. In an already dangerous area of space, destroying the mine field is an extremely risky mission, but is the only viable option left open to the Fleet. Captain Apollo, along with Lieutenants Boomer and Starbuck launch in specially shielded Vipers to clear the Cylon minefield. The Cylon mine can withstand temperatures capable of melting the hull of a Colonial Viper, but a single shot from a Viper mounted laser is enough to destroy the mine.
A Cylon listening post, also known as pods by the Colonials, is a covert installation built on a planet and designed to blend in with the surrounding landscape while gathering intelligence on enemy movements.
One such outpost is discovered by Galactica pilots Boomer and Jolly on an asteroid in the Otarsis Quadrant. Constructed on the rocky face of a canyon, the only outward sign of the station is a comparatively small launchbay hatch. This hatch can be opened by tilting the entire section by 90 degrees, allowing access for Raiders, equipment and personnel. Up until its destruction by Colonial forces, Baltar is using the base to track the movements of Galactica and the Fleet. At least six Cylon Raiders are stationed at the outpost.
The laser pistol is the standard energy-based sidearm of Colonial warriors.
Colonial military laser pistols contain readouts that can indicate whether or not they has been recently fired. The energy signature in each weapon is unique, allowing tests to be conducted to prove if a particular pistol was used in a given instance.
Cubits are a form of government-regulated currency used throughout the Twelve Colonies in both the Original Series and Re-imagined Series. Cubits were normally seen in coin form. Frequently, viewers see cubits wagered in pyramid games, usually while Starbuck is playing. Cubits are much the same in terms of appearance from the Original Series. However, it is revealed that they were made out of auric, the Colonial term for gold.
