Battalion: Outlanders (led by COL Carl and LTCOL Stryker)
Leader: O1 Skaven
Requirements: No requirements. They host only public tryouts, usually on weekends.
Description: Recon units are the main scouting class for the Resistance (besides Spectre Units). They move faster than most units, and are only slower than Lambda Assassins and EOWA.
"A very unconventional division in the Resistance, but probably one of the oldest. Before the Sector 61 Cell was able to organise themselves militarily, their members employed a guerrilla, run-and-gun style of warfare. While they weren't an official division by then, it isn't surprising to see how the pre-Uprising Cell shines through today their use of older weaponry and their focus on scavenging any piece of scrap the R&D department might find useful, hearkens back to an era of when conditions for the Rebellion were more harsh.
The most unique piece of equipment in the Recon's arsenal is the Low-Energy Gravity Guns, a lower power derivative of the Zero Energy Field Manipulator used by Gordon Freeman, lacking the same propulsion power. Their Grease Gun is also light enough to allow them to sprint while shooting. Making them a fearsome foe in massive numbers."
Specializing in perks that increase movement speed or damage is ideal. The class excels at moving fast and hitting hard. Indirect combat is our specialty, so try to attack from unusual angles (flanking wide around combine held points and hitting from behind, etc.) Acting alone works well, but a group of Recon can do serious damage. Avoid direct engagement unless you know for certain you can get away with killing them fast. The APC9 is perfect for using around corners due to run n' gun, so always have that out if you're in a map with a lotta blind corners (C13)
During scouting missions Recon units may go near the Combine base (within the Spawncamp zone), but are not allowed directly in the base. They also may not capture any points inside the Spawncamp zone and they are not allowed to shoot under any circumstances.
In order for a Recon unit to do a scouting mission, the following requirements must be met:
The scouting mission is granted by an NCO+
The Recon unit must not under any circumstances shoot if he is fired upon and instead must retreat
If the Recon unit doing a scouting mission is caught shooting during the scouting process, it will result in a 2 rank demotion, and if he is a PFC or PVT, he will be kicked from Recon (If caught, please report to a Recon CO with evidence).
