KILO Sub-Division
[DATA ACQUIRED BY BGEN ANTONIO]
[ACQUIRED ON JULY 29TH, 2022]
Division: Overwatch Vehicular Arm (OVA)
Leader: CmD Serry
Description: KILO, similarly to FOXTROT, provide vehicular support to the Combine, specializing in ground vehicles.
Vehicle deployments are based on VC ranks (Vehicle Clearance), with higher clearances allowing the unit to deploy better vehicles:
VC-I = Rollermine / APC
VC-II = Hunter / Strider
KILO 05+ have the possibility to be given the special position of VTO (Vehicle Training Officer), which allows them to grant light vehicles and train other KILOs for any ground vehicle. Those aspiring to NCO need to be VTOs.
While they are considered transhumans, these units can be enslaved by the Military Police.
BACKGROUND LORE
"Originally, the OVA fell under the Transhuman Arm, under two different names, Airwatch and Groundwatch. However as the need for more pilots and vehicle operators became apparent, the Overwatch Vehicular Arm was formed.
Both Synthetics and regular mechanical vehicles are included within the OVA’s asset pool. While the mechanical vehicles are operated normally, the synthetic element is controlled by more indirect means, namely by a control terminal, but the more technical elements are kept under heavy guard so that they’re not hijacked by Resistance forces."
HOW TO COUNTER
The Missile Launcher, while doing relatively low damage to infantry, deals a significantly higher amount of damage to vehicles.
Vehicles can be repaired with a repair tool, however they cannot be fully repaired once they're damaged beyond 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 of their HP.
Rollermines can only be damaged/destroyed with melee weapons and explosives. Rollermines detonate on death, and can also self-destruct at will, so it's preferable to use Heavies to destroy them as they can do so at a distance.
Rollermines can be picked up by Gravity Guns. Engineers can hack them into our side if they're taken to a Point under rebel control.
APCs have 16003 HP, making them quite bulky. Despite this, they're big and it takes skill to be able to use guns, so for most cases overwhelming them with teamwork and gunfire is a viable option.
In addition to the 9 player capacity, APCs also act as global spawnpoints for enemy respawns, making them perfect for deployment enemies behind the frontlines and quickly taking control of the map. Prioritize taking them down whenever possible.
Despite only having 7,200 HP, Hunters are hard to hit due to their maneuverability. Groups of teammates and/or RPG hits can quickly dispatch them however; While direct RPG hits can take them down in 2 hits, they will attempt to dodge incoming rockets so it's better to aim for the ground near them.
The Strider has 20,000 HP, a main gun that's decently precise and a cannon with splash damage. As with all other vehicles, RPG hits do fairly good damage to a Strider, but their size makes them especially vulnerable to consistent fire from infantry, as they can't hide as well from enemies as other vehicles. Mixing large numbers with setting up crossfires and spreading out is a good way to deal damage to Striders; extensive use of cover such as walls or alleyways is also advised.
Striders are the only land vehicle that can be locked onto with a Missile Launcher. Heavies should take advantage of this, all the while being cautious as Striders will be alerted to RPG lock-ons, and will definitely prioritize heavies over all other units.
