BACKGROUND LORE

"Having failed in their mission to defend the prison and teleporter prototype, causing it’s complete destruction, the Nova Prospekt Unit became effectively homeless. While there were initial calls for them to be liquidated for their failure, it was deemed more suitable that they be split apart into several detachments and be moved to different Sectors. Their affinity for defensive warfare and close-quarters combat due to the nature of their former home-base turned them from mere jailors into specialist units. 

Now they serve as the Universal Union’s heavy attack force and military police, channelling their former skills into situations both on and off of the battlefield. An especially useful trait for the Sector 61 Overwatch Expeditionary force considering the nature of their units.

The Nova Prospekt Detachment endured more rigorous hormonal adjustment and augmentation, allowing for more versatility, survivability, and aggression. These harsher augmentations have allowed these units to carve out a defining force within the Combine faction, and are now some of the most feared units within the UU."

HOW TO COUNTER

• The VLK Rouge and its corresponding shield makes RIOT a beast in CQB situations. If possible, fight them at range.

• RIOT units are protected on the front but are still vulnerable from all other directions. Ambush them and hit them from either behind or the sides if possible. Their shields are also not indestructible, and can be safely destroyed from long-ranges.
