Details of execution:
On 8th March 2023, Rainbow NGO launched the 'Swayangsiddha 2023' project in Katwa, coinciding with International Women's Day, to champion women's empowerment and challenge societal norms. Led by Secretary Gouranga Roy and supported by President Swapan Majumdar, the initiative aimed to redefine perceptions of gender roles by honoring five resilient women who defied stereotypes in their professions. These women, including a pioneering female butcher and a flower seller, were recognized for their contributions with traditional attire like sarees and shawls, alongside practical tools to enhance their livelihoods. The event symbolized Rainbow NGO's commitment to gender equality and social inclusion, emphasizing that every individual, regardless of gender, deserves equal respect and opportunities. By showcasing the diverse talents and capabilities of women in non-traditional roles, the project aimed to inspire broader societal acceptance and support for women's economic independence and empowerment. Through community engagement and support, 'Swayangsiddha 2023' highlighted the transformative power of grassroots initiatives in fostering a more equitable society. It encouraged dialogue on breaking barriers and fostering an environment where all individuals can thrive and contribute meaningfully. Beyond honoring these exceptional women, the initiative sought to initiate lasting change by challenging stereotypes and promoting a culture of respect, dignity, and equal opportunity for women in Katwa and beyond. Rainbow NGO's efforts underscored the importance of collective action in advancing gender equality and creating pathways for sustainable development and social justice.
