Details of execution:
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. On this day, the members of the Bengal Help Club felicitated five elderly women of Katwa, Shahjadi Choudhuri, Dhanu Das, Sandhya Das, Ayesha Bibi, and Sabitri Das. The eighty-plus ladies coming from different backgrounds of society are surviving independently by running small-scale businesses in the Katwa Bara Bazaar area. They may not understand jargon like Women Empowerment, but they kept fighting when every odds are stacked against them. The intellectuals of the town came forward for this event and handed over Sari, Shawl, Umbrella, Mosquito Net, and a small memento along with some sweets to each one of them. The celebration was truly moved by this gesture and some of the ladies could not hold their emotions back. This was a moment of pride and satisfaction for the members and they went back home with a heart full of warmth. An event Bengal Help Club hopes to hold year after year in different future forms.
