Dream Journal doesn't require an account. Your dream entries, journal notes, and preferences are stored locally on your device — nothing personal is sent to us to use the app.
1. WHAT THIS APP DOES
Dream Journal lets you type in a dream, receive a reflective interpretation based on detected symbols and mood, and optionally save that dream — along with your own personal notes — to an on-device journal. You can customize the visual theme and mute sound effects. Interpreting dreams and accessing the journal/settings may require unlocking access, which can be done by watching a short rewarded video.
2. INFORMATION STORED BY THE APP
The following is stored locally in your browser (via localStorage) so your data persists across visits, until you clear it yourself:
Saved dream entries, their interpretations, detected mood, and symbol tags
Personal notes you add to journal entries
Your selected theme and sound (mute) preference
The following is stored only for your current browser session (via sessionStorage) and clears automatically when the session ends:
Your unlocked-access status (unlocks last 30 minutes after watching an ad)
None of this data — your dreams, journal notes, or preferences — is sent to us or to any server we operate. It stays on your device.
3. AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED INFORMATION
Like most web and mobile apps, basic technical information may be collected automatically when you use Dream Journal, including:
IP address
Device model and operating system
App/browser usage statistics
Crash reports
Date and time of use
Features accessed within the app (e.g. Interpret, Journal, Settings)
Dream Journal does not collect precise location information, and does not read or transmit the content of your dreams or journal notes.
4. PERSONAL INFORMATION & ACCOUNTS
Dream Journal does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to interpret dreams or keep a journal.
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Dream Journal may use third-party services that collect information under their own privacy policies, including:

The rewarded-video "Watch Ad to Unlock" flow is served through an ad provider such as AdMob, which may collect information necessary to serve ads, prevent fraud, and measure ad performance.

7. DATA RETENTION
Dream entries, journal notes, and preferences remain in your browser's local storage until you delete individual entries, clear your journal, or clear your browser data — they are not automatically erased when a session ends. Unlock status is session-based and clears when the session ends. Automatically collected technical information (Section 3) may be retained only as long as necessary for analytics, security, legal compliance, and service improvement.
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Dream Journal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover personal information from a child has been collected, it will be deleted as soon as reasonably possible.
9. SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to help protect information handled by the app. No method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure.
10. YOUR CHOICES
You can delete individual journal entries at any time from within the app. Clearing your browser's local storage or uninstalling the app will remove all saved dreams, notes, and preferences. You can also stop all data collection by uninstalling the app (on mobile) or simply no longer visiting it (on web).
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with a revised Effective Date. Continued use of Dream Journal after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. YOUR CONSENT
By using Dream Journal, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
