Agriculture and Natural Resources
Purdue Extension-Wabash County
Greetings,
October is here! While the temperatures don't feel very 'fall'-like, harvest is underway and farmers are in the fields getting the work done. Yields are across the board with the lack of moisture the past weeks, but I am hopeful that there will be some strong numbers.
This past month was full of programming like our Wabash County Ag Expo, River-wild and Hot Topics. I was also able to attend the Purdue ANR Extension Annual meeting where I was able to connect with other ANR educators from around the state and also get some hands on experience harvesting grapes.
Even though harvest has begun, we are still planning a number of great programs for the fall and winter. Look below to find information about drone programing, homesteading conferences, and Extension Master Gardener Training.
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to have a meeting. However, October is a busy month so call or email before heading into the office. If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, please reach out to the Extension Office. Phone: 260-563-0661 (Ext 1408) or emailing me directly at gschortg@purdue.edu
Best Wishes,

September Review!
This annual program invites all 4th graders in Wabash County to come to the fairgrounds and work through 17 stations where they learn about different topics! This year we had to adjust due to a fog delay, but overall it went off without a hitch!! Thank you to all our speakers and volunteers who made this happen!!!

Each year the Wabash County 7th Graders raft down the Wabash River and stop at various education stations. At my station we talk about river health and measurements. We measure turbidity and also check depth and take samples to find macroinvertibrates.
