"I QUIT!! I HATE THIS GODDAMN JOB!!" Doom yelled as he stomped out of the Mcdonalds and to the back. He proceeds to go to the dumpster, ripping off his work uniform and throwing it into the dumpster dramatically.

Just as he was about to leave, he heard a noise from the dumpster.  A meow.

"Guh???" Doom quickly went back to the dumpster. To his surprise, he saw a random cat inside, it’s tiny head poking out from under his uniform.

"AWWW!!  YOU'RE SO CUTE!!!" Doom said in joy as he quickly picked the cat up from the dumpster, and hugged it.  “But you do look really dirty. We can go to the vet later, but let's go back home and clean you up!!" Doom scrubbed some of the dirt off of the cat's face.

“Hmm.. But I don’t think I should touch you..” He thought for a second.  He took the tin pot off of his head and gently placed the cat inside, then they walked off.

-15 minutes later-

"Hey guys!" Doom greeted cheerfully as he entered the apartment.  He looked around.  Cobalt was drinking coffee in the kitchen and Marion was sitting on the couch doing nothing.

"Hello." Cobalt said in a tired voice.

"What's up!!" Marion piped up.  “Hey, why’s ur’ pot off?  Is this a special occasion’?”

Cobalt looked over and nodded.

“Um, yes, actually!  Because I found a kitten!” He pulled the tin pot from behind him to show Cobalt and Marion.  The little kitten was still in there, sleeping.

Marion looked shocked, but came closer and bent down to take a look.  However, not everyone was so pleased.

Cobalt looked up at Doom, his eyebrows furrowed. "Why didn’t you didn't tell us you were getting a cat?"

"Because I just found him!" Doom said, excited. "In a dumpster in the back of the Mcdonald's I was working in."

"The probability of it having a variety of sicknesses are incredibly high, and it’s dirty.  You shouldn’t have been touching it.” Cobalt said, concerned. Marion nodded slowly, but still remained glued to the kitten.

“It's honestly fine! I'll just give him a bath, and take him to the vet tomorrow!" Doom said.

"He's such a stinkin' cutie though! But we can’t let him run around here, can we?" Marion said, standing up straight and looking at Cobalt and then to Doom.

"Where's your uniform?" Cobalt asked.

"Oh yeah! I quit." Doom said.

"WHAT???" Both Marion and Cobalt gasped, surprised.

"Yeah, I quit working there. I hated it there!  But it's fine, I'll get a new job quickly, I swear!”

"Doom, don't ya’ realize ur’ the only good source of income here?? Not to mention, we're kinda poor!! My pizza job ain't enough to pay our rent! I only work part time!" Marion said quickly.

"You should've just told us first." Cobalt said.

"Guys it's fine!! I'll get a new job quickly!!" Doom reassuringly.

"What other job is gonna’ ‘ccept some hobo ex-Mcdonalds employee??” Marion asked.

Cobalt nodded wordlessly, taking a long sip of his coffee.

"I don’t know.  Retail?" Doom shrugged.

“Do ya’ even know what retail is?!” Marion asked.  Doom put his finger on his chin to think, but no words came out.

“Even if he did know, would the pay be half as good?” Cobalt pointed out.

"I'm sure it is." Doom waved it off as he started walking to the bathroom. "There's probably Walmarts and Targets just WAITING for a guy like me!”

"You should find a new job by next week. We wouldn’t want to make poor Marion work twenty shifts a day." Cobalt said.

"Yeah, please don't." Marion added quickly.

"And how are we going to pay for your cat?  Food and toys are costly, and at high demand.” Cobalt pointed out, swirling his mug around in his hand.

"I'll pay all for it, don't you worry." Doom declared.

"You sure?" Marion said.

"Yep." Doom said.  They were all silent for a few moments.

"Alright!  I’m gonna go give this little fuzzy boy a bath!  The vet will come tomorrow!" Doom said proudly, continuing to walk off to the bathroom.

"Oh, can I come with?" Marion jumped up, looking at Doom.

"Yes!! Let's go!!" Doom beamed, opening the bathroom door and entering as Marion followed him.  Cobalt just watched the two disappear into the bathroom and sighed.

-5 minutes later-

"Okay, we got him in the tub!”

“I ain't gonna touch im’!  He could have all sorts’a nasty diseases n’ critters.. Who knows if he's gunna scratch me or somethin’." Marion said.

"Yeah, that's fine. I'll probably just try to scrub him a bit." Doom said, reaching for the faucet and making sure the water coming out was lukewarm.  The kitten didn’t seem to mind the water.

Marion handed Doom some soap, and Doom scrubbed the kitten gently with a toothbrush.

"Hey, that looks like Cobalt’s toothbrush.  So have ya’ come up with a name for him yet?"

"Hmm.. No.” Doom shrugged.

“Is it like when you wanna spend time wit’ him first, then name em’?” Marion asked.  Doom nodded.

"Then I’m sure you'll come up wit’ one eventually." Marion smiled.

-3 minutes later-

"Now we're done!" Doom said excitedly as he dried the cat off with a towel. "He should be able to walk now." Doom then put the cat on the floor. Though, the cat just sat there and didn't move.

"Mraw."

“Maybe we should leave im’ in the tub?  There’s no way ya’ got off all his grime.”

“I dunno. What if he gets lonely?” Doom frowned and looked up at Marion.

“With the amount of times I see Cobalt follow ya’ into the shower, which I can ONLY assume is to help you, I wouldn’ trust you to clean the kitten.” Marion crossed his arms and snickered.

Doom blushed.  “That’s completely different.  We’ll just leave him here, then.” He put the kitten back in the bathtub.

Marion stretched his arms and left the bathroom.  Sneakily, Doom shut the door behind the deer and sat back down at the edge of the bathtub.

“There’s no way I’m leaving you all alone in here.” Doom declared, looking down at the kitten.  The kitten looked up at him.

“Mew.”

Doom beamed.  “Aww!! You’re just the cutest little thing ever!!” He scratched behind the kitten’s ear with one of his fingers.  “I’d say you’re two sauces big.”

The kitten leaned into the scratching, and let out a little yawn.  Doom sat with baited breath, both wanting to do anything to disturb the kitten.  The kitten wrapped one tiny paw around his finger and curled up, falling asleep right then and there.

Doom looked in awe and shock.  The car distribution system had really chosen him!! He would jump up and down and scream in joy, if the kitten wasn’t sleeping against his finger.

—The next morning—

Marion yawned and stretched his arm, exiting his room and entering the common area of the apartment.  He spotted Cobalt sitting at the kitchen island, on one of the three chairs.

“Mornin’ Cobalt!” Marion said, sitting down beside him.  As usual, he was drinking a mug of coffee.

“Good morning, Marion.  Have you seen Doom anywhere?”

“Huh?  Last I saw of him we were in the bathroom..  Did he never come to bed?”

Cobalt shook his head.

Marion thought, then got up.  He ushered over Cobalt, who tentatively followed.  He slowly opened the bathroom door, and there was Doom!  On the floor, leaning against the edge of the bathtub, sleeping.  His arm was in the bathtub, one finger sticking out, and the kitten leaning against it.

“That cat’ll be the death of me.” Cobalt grumbled and padded over to Doom.  He shook Doom’s back gently.  “Doom, wake up.”

“CHEESEBURGER!” Doom yelled as he sprang up.  Everyone was startled, and just stared at him.

“I’ll name him Cheeseburger!!” Doom beamed, picking the kitten up from the tub and twirling him around.  “Come on, Marion!  We have a vet appointment to go to!” Doom said as he all but ran out of the bathroom and went to put his shoes on.  Marion sped to catch up with him, Cobalt walking behind the deer.

"Have fun you two." Cobalt said. Though, the cat looked disappointed when he said that, scrunching up it’s little nose.

“Mra.”

“Or three." Cobalt added with a raised eyebrow.

"See ya!!" Marion said as Doom and him stepped out of the apartment room.
