Doom and Cobalt Date (Year: 2018)

Doom stepped out of his bed, tiredly rubbing his eyes. He left his room and went into the kitchen to make some coffee. While doing so, he also did something he had been thinking about doing for a while.
“Hey Wanna han g out?”
His fingers trembled as he pressed send, quickly shutting his phone off and putting it onto the counter face down. He tapped his foot and looked around nervously, taking a sip of his drink as he anxiously awaited a reply. He practically jumped when his phone rung, quickly picking it up and checking the reply.
“My apologies for the late reply,”
Doom stopped reading and chuckled a bit. It hadn’t even been a minute.
“but yes. If you don’t mind, there’s a small restaurant near where I live that I’ve heard is pretty good. I can take care of the reservation. Does 4 sound good? Thank you!”.
He stared at his phone in silence, feeling his face heat up the more seconds passed. This wasn’t the wake up call he had expected, but he was pleasantly surprised. They hadn’t hung out in a while, anyways. Cobalt thought hard as he sat down, suddenly no longer feeling hungry as he stared down at his plate of food. He picked his phone back up as he heard it ring
“Ok!!! wahts The adress?:)”
He blushed even more. But Cobalt doesn’t think he’s ever found an address faster, sending it to Doom and quickly following up with a polite,
“Can’t wait to see you!”
Cobalt stood outside of the restaurant, waiting nervously. He had taken the time to get ready about 2 hours in advance, most of which he spent just obsessing over the idea of going in the first place. He was snapped out of his thoughts as he heard a distant,
“Hey Cobalt!”
He looked up to see Doom waving as he walked towards Cobalt, smiling. Cobalt rushed over and hugged Doom.
“It’s so good to see you again! I missed hanging out.”
Doom hugged Cobalt back, trying to hide how much he was blushing.
“It’s good to see you again too.”
He spoke sincerely. Cobalt backed away and gestured for Doom to follow him into the restaurant, which he did.
“By the way, I love your outfit. It looks good on you.”
Cobalt said as they walked in. Doom nodded in thanks, returning the compliment. Cobalt spoke as they both sat down.
“I’m glad you could make it. It’s nice to meet again, outside of studying and everything.”
“Yeah, it’s been pretty crazy for both of us, I’d say. I’m sorry if I’ve kinda been blowing you off, though. I’m just busy.”
Doom said sheepishly, scratching the side of his head. Cobalt smiled understandingly.
“There’s no need to apologize. Being busy is nothing to be sorry for, especially for you.”
Cobalt kept on talking, but he wondered what he meant by that.
“And it has been crazy, yeah. I doubt I’d be able to hang out more then you, anyways. Take your time and everything.”
“Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it.”
Cobalt nodded.
“By the way, I like your hair.”
Doom blushes even more as he spoke. What the hell was that? Doom thought. His mind was racing a million miles per minute, but stopped as he heard Cobalt chuckle a little bit, giving Doom a small smirk as he spoke.
“I know, I know.”
Doom’s face turned bright red as a result, so much so that Cobalt had taken notice.
“Doom, are you alright?”
Cobalt asked. Doom put his hand on his cheek, feeling just how hot his face was as well.
“Oh! I- uh- yeah, yeah. I’m alright.”
Doom barely managed to sputter out. Cobalt shrugged.
“If you say so.”
After that, it went silent for a bit. They only stared at each other, at the floor, at others. However, before long was able to pass, Doom spoke up again.
“Sooo Cobalt, there’s actually something I uhmm- want to tell you.”
Doom spoke quickly, anxiously tapping a finger on the table.
“And what’s that?”
Cobalt raised an eyebrow.
“I…. like… your hair..”
Doom said, his voice trailing out as he registered what he said.
“Oh. Well, thank you.”
Cobalt thanked him, his ears lowering. That can’t be what he really wanted to say, right. His thoughts were interrupted as suddenly, Doom stood up and slammed his hands on the table, quietly yelling.
“I LIKE YOU!! I LOVE YOU, LIKE, A LOT!!!”
Cobalt just stared at Doom for a few seconds, blinking. Then, he began to stifle a laugh. He was cracking up. Doom went completely silent, his confidence absolutely shredded at the reaction. He started to lower back down in his seat, but before he could sit, Cobalt started to speak.
“I’m so sorry- I didn’t mean to laugh. You see, I was actually going to say the same thing.”
Cobalt said, ashamed of his reaction.
“I mean, yeah, I feel the same. I really really like you. Or as you said, I even love you.”
“You….do??”
Doom looked at him, completely appalled.
“Yes!”
Cobalt finally said. Doom continued to stare silently.
“Holy shit. I fucking love you.”
Doom laughed out nervously, holding Cobalt’s hands and hugging him very tightly.
“And I do too.”
Cobalt said, almost whispering while he hugged him back. Doom just stayed put, quietly tearing up. Out of happiness, of course. Cobalt gently pat Doom on the back, just as shocked. Eventually, the two let go of each other.
“Wow. I’m sorry, I’m just really happy. I didn’t expect this to happen, honestly.”
Doom said, wiping away the rest of his tears. Cobalt chuckled a bit.
“It’s fine. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.”
