Doom meets Marion (Year: 2014)

The bell rang. It was his lunch period.
Doom entered the cafeteria, wanting nothing more than to just get his lunch and sit down.
But then, almost like clockwork, a random person smacks his food to the ground and runs away, laughing on the whole trip back to their friends.
"Third fucking time this month." Doom mumbled bitterly. "All because I dress like this... What fucking losers."
Doom stared into the distance, visibly distraught. He knows his parents would get mad at him after school anyways, isn’t that enough? He walks outside the school building and sits right infront of a wall. This was his usual spot.
As Doom sat, he began to stew. This asshole wouldn’t leave him alone. He’s been doing this for weeks now. He sunk further back, his back making contact with the cold brick wall behind him.
He gingerly pulled out his phone out, just to scroll through it, but it didn’t keep him satisfied for long. He eventually just put it back to his pocket, bored once again.
He sighs, reering to get up and leave, but then he notices something. Another person, beside him? Has Doom really just been in his own fantasy world this entire time, that he wouldn’t notice an entire other person sitting next to him?
He looked over. The person was just staring to a wall. They were holding a tray full of food.
"...What are you doing?" Doom asked slowly.
"I'm lookin’ at the wall. Why?" They answered.
"Nothing." Doom said quickly, turning back around. Is that a country drawl he detected?
"You seem hungry." The person stated.
"What? No! No...I'm okay." Doom sputtered out.
"You can have sum’ of my food."
"I'm good, really. I already had some." Doom lied.
“Alright." They said simply, shrugging.
Doom was confused. Why he was just staring at a wall right beside him? How long has he been there?
Doom sighed.
"Actually, maybe I need a little bit." He said sheepishly.
"Right’, here ya’ go." They said, handing Doom a sloppy joe.
"Thanks." He muttered.
For a few minutes, it was silent.
"What's your name?" Doom asked.
"Marion." Marion answered.
"Nice name! I'm Doom. What are you even doing here? How long have you been here?"
"This is my spot."
“But this is my spot too?" Doom raised and eyebrow.
"...Guess that makes it our spot."
"I don't see you here often."
"I have other spots, but I just wanted.. To be with myself today. But you're here too, so…” Doom was silent for a few moments, and Marion gave him an inquisitive glance. “Not saying I don't want you here! You seem cool!" He quickly followed up with.
"Thanks! But, meh, this is really my only spot." Marion said, making an iffy motion with his hand.
"Why? I think there's a few other spots good around here." Marion raised both eyebrows. Marion shrugged.
“Then tell me, why’d ya’ choose this spot in particular?”
Doom became silent, staring at his hands.
“Uhh...The people around here. They just aren’t.. Nice to me? It sounds weird." Doom rubbed the back of his neck.
"Every person ain't always gunna be nice, you gotta ccept’ that.”
Marion looked over at Doom, who grew silent once more.
“I'm assuming they bother you lot’?"
"Yeah..."
"Then I can protect ya’! I ain’t much of a fighter, but I can always try." Marion exclaimed confidently.
"...They do have a friend group..." Doom sighed, his face and voice oozing sadness.
"Damn!” Marion thought for a few seconds. “Least’ we can get our shit rocked together." He offered weakly.
Doom laughed a little. “Alright, calm down. They don't really get physical with me, but they're still just as annoying. They mess with me a lot. Probably because of the way I dress, which is very gay." Doom explained, with Marion listening intently and nodding.
"I see.. Then I'll go with you when you get your lunch, so they'll have to go through me first! Or we can both team up on em’!!" Marion beamed and pumped his fists in the air.
Doom was silent, but a smile started creeping up onto his face. “… I like the sound of that. Thanks."
"No problem. I'm here if ya’ need me." Marion said, placing a hand on Doom’s back.
"Actually, what classes do you have?" Doom asked.
"I got Math, English, PE, Woods, Biology an’ History. All in that order." Marion listed, counting on his fingers.
"Nice! I got PE and Math too!”
"Sweet!" Marion said, and they high fived each other.
The two heard a loud noise come out from nowhere. They were startled, but the bell had rung.
"Guess we have to go now." Doom said as he got up and reached for his bag.
"Then, guess I’ll see you in math tomorrow! Nice meetin’ you, Doom!" Marion said as walked off to his next class, waving goodbye.
"You too Marion!" Doom said as he also walked off, smiling wide.
