Mirka sat at a round, dark colored coffee table.
The top of which was adored, that’s putting it nicely, with stacks of paperwork, cups, pens, and all sorts of other garbage.
“Oh, and what does this one do?” Asked a peppy, yet fairly grainy voice.
“She had a cat that gave her superpowers. She found it on the street one day, and the cat decided she was worthy enough.” Spoke Mirka, her deep voice coming out with a hint of mirth.
“So should I save cats if I see them?” Pende said. Mirka let a small laugh escape from her lips.
“You could, but I highly doubt there are many cats to save where you’ll be.” Spoke Mirka gently. She then froze.
“Does that mean that all the cats have owners and are happy?” Pende practically jumped up and down while asking, beaming at the thought.
Mirka hesitated a bit before answering.
“I- Yeah. They’re all safe and sound.” She said, sadness finding its way into her voice.
She continued to sort through a stack of papers and write on her laptop simultaneously.
“Hey Mirka, I think we ran out of juice-“ Anna said as she walked into the room, shocked to see Pende. But then, she smirked.
“What’s up Penny?” She laughed, raising her hand to give Pende a high five, but the holographic girl’s hand phased right through.
Mirka looked up at Anna and smiled. “I’m testing her ability to interact with the real world.”
Anna leaned on top of Mirka’s chair. “That’s cool. How is she fairing?”
“Amazingly. It’s relieving to see she can hold sufficient conversation.”
“Nothing but the best from you though, right?” Anna said. The compliment sent electricity through Mirka’s spine.
She cleared her throat. “Yes, yes, of course.” Anna smiled.
Pende tilted her head and pondered ad she observed the two interacting. Delayed speech, flushed faces, raised heart rates, dilated pupils…
Then she started panicking. Weren’t those signs of a heart attack? Mirka had told her about those!
She quickly stepped in between the two. “Mirka, Anna! We must bring you two to a medical facility at once!”
The two peeled their gazes off of each other and stared at Pende in bewilderment.
“Oh, Pende, I don’t think-“ Mirka began, before Pende interrupted her.
“You two display signs of a heart attack!” She exclaimed, pointing to them.
The room went silent.
Then, Anna started laughing.
“Penny, that isn’t it. We’re far from heart attacks.” She smirked, giving Mirka a small slap on his arm.
“Oh.” Pende thought for a moment. What else could that be? Then it hit her. “You two display signs of extreme romantic attraction. Are you my mothers?” Pende asked with an innocent smile.
Anna and Mirka choked, avoiding each other’s glances with faces that were as red as tomatoes.
“Pende, I appreciate your input, but perhaps not every observation you make should be spoken.” Mirka said quietly, hand barely covering her face.
