OUTPATIENT PEDIATRICS ROTATION
PGY-2 and 3
It is always recommended to review the curriculum and touch base with the resident currently on the rotation 1-week in advance of starting the rotation.
WHO: Dr. Barry Hench barry.a.hench.civ@mail.mil – Pediatrics
WHERE: NHCP Pediatrics Department.
WHEN: On first day, arrive to Dr. Hench’s office by 0745 to introduce self and get a quick tour. Normal rotation pediatric clinic hours are M-F 0800-1700. Your typical weekly schedule is provided below. Morning Pediatric Clinic for PGY2s and afternoon Pediatric Clinic for PGY3s.
CALL: typically 2 nights of MOOD (FRI-SAT)
LEAVE: can take 1 week of leave (5 work-days) during the rotation
WHAT ELSE: Dr. Hench has additional elective reading material that is valuable for outpatient pediatric care.
WHY: ACGME requires a certain number of outpatient pediatric encounters that take place in a pediatric clinic, and therefore cannot count towards the ACGME outpatient continuity encounters.
