Inpatient Peds (R1)

INPATIENT PEDIATRICS ROTATION

PGY-1

 

It is always recommended to review the curriculum and touch base with the resident currently on the rotation 1-week in advance of starting the rotation.

 

WHO:    Currently Pending? Will update once information made availible. 

 

WHERE:  NHCP Mother Infant Unit and NHCP Multi Service Ward, morning huddle occurs in the “Fish Bowl” on MIU

 

WHEN:  Pre-rounding on ward patients and newborn patients should be completed prior to starting rounds at 0815. Morning huddle takes place in the “Fish Bowel at 0715, followed by morning report in the Family Medicine Clinic. Ward rounds start at 0815 on MSW, and nursery rounds begin at 0930 on MIU.

Below is a typical example of your schedule during the inpatient rotation. The afternoon clinic will vary, and the days off will typically either be a Saturday or Sunday. This is usually worked out between the intern and staff who are currently on the rotation.

WHAT ELSE:  You will get sent a comprehensive welcome package with rotation expectations and reading lists 1 week prior to the rotation. Read this in its entirety and plan on doing reading prior to the start of the rotation in order to be prepared on the first day.
