It is always recommended to review the curriculum and touch base with the resident currently on the rotation 1-week in advance of starting the rotation.

WHAT ELSE: Prior to rotation, residents will receive a “Welcome Letter” from Dr. Volk and Ms. Pia, to include ICU Orientation, Handbook, Policies & Procedures Manual, rotation schedule, and any other relevant information. The resident should contact our GME office or Ms. Pia directly if they have not received welcome letter and instructions within a few days prior to their rotation.
Balboa Lodging for rotating Family Medicine Residents: There is a room in Building 26 at Balboa which is available for residents to check into for rotations while down there. There is one area with two rooms which are connected by a “common area” and a shared bathroom. All of the bedrooms and bathroom have locks on them. Linens will be provided for you but you have to request them at check in and will have to go down and switch them out as needed. There is no toilet paper or towels or any toiletries in the room so you’ll have to bring all of that. Think dorm room. You can park in parking garage 18 or 19 on either side of the building. To check in: Go to Quarterdeck in building 26 which is on the 2nd floor (must take the west side elevators) Tell them you are a resident who is checking and need the key for room 403.
