A Fall Day
One day Autumn had a visit:
Summer, unannounced,
brought a gift of warmth and gentle breezes
lightly stirring hanging leaves
that were waiting … waiting …
for release.
They descended calmly, without flutter,
tired brown-hued butterflies
: :
… freely floating … floating freely …
: :
… settling slowly … slowly settling …
: :
on the silent surface, on receptive ground.
Visit ended, Summer left.
