MINUTES OF AGM 13th NOVEMBER 2015
THIRSK ATHLETIC CLUB
WELCOME
Chairman Pauline Beecroft welcomed the club representatives and thanked Graham White of Thirsk for organising the venue once again.
A few moments silence were held in memory of local bowlers who had passed away particularly Ernest Wilson of Bishop Monkton who founded the club and was Captain, Chairman and latterly President.
ATTENDANCE
Jean Rhodes and Colin Welford from Sowerby Flatts, Peter Hardy and Gerald Bowman from Bedale. Audrey Lock and Glenys Midgley from Dishforth, Dick Milestone and Hazel Derby from Leyburn, Derek Kirby from Northallerton, Les Gill from Boroughbridge, Mavis Jennings from Masham, Jean and Maurice Woodhouse from Easingwold, Graham White from Thirsk, Our Webmaster George Brewster. Pauline Beecroft and Basil Birchall (Chairman and Secretary) from Bishop Monkton.

MINUTES OF THE 2014 AGM
These were approved and duly signed as a correct record. Proposed by Jean Woodhouse and seconded by Jean Rhodes.
MATTERS ARISING.
A proposal from Easingwold seconded by Boroughbridge that the points system of 1pt for each rink with 3pts for the aggregate should be changed to 2pts for each rink and 2pts for the aggregate. 10pts in total compared to 7pts.
This system was proposed 2 years ago and the difference in the league placings then would have been unchanged. However the placings of the 2015 league would have resulted in Bedale winning the league despite Leyburn winning 14 matches to Bedale’s 11. !
The proposal received 5 votes with 5 votes against any change. As there was not a majority for the proposal the points system remains unchanged.

It was unanimously agreed that a subscription was unnecessary as there minimal costs in running the league as virtually everything was done online.
However further expenditure did take place as the Chairperson and Secretary did spend a further £21 in 3 bottle presents to 3 representatives who continually contribute greatly to the League.
In no particular order:
George Brewster our 'Webmaster' who takes in all the results and keeps us informed very quickly as to the results and league positions as well as keeping an immaculate website.
Derek Kirby who organises and runs the Elsdon Metcalfe pairs trophy.
and Graham White who hosts this AGM and the day of the Elsdon Metcalfe finals. The rinks are always ready for us as well as much needed refreshments.

As a result the Balance held in Cash is £121.65.
BATESON LEAGUE SHIELD REPORT.
Many congratulations to Leyburn on winning the league in their first season with 14 winning matches. Bishop Monkton finished 2nd with Bedale in 3rd position. Only 1 day was lost to rain !
Thanks to Sowerby Flatts for hosting the Winners v the rest.
Next years host for this match will be Masham.
ELSDON METCALFE TROPHY REPORT
Derek Kirby as organiser reported on this popular event. We were fortunate to have good weather for finals day when the two Bishop Monkton pairs -Bill Humphreys, John Kerr and Pauline Beecroft, Basil Birchall fought out a very close final going to an extra end for Bill and John to triumph.
Derek thanked Graham White for his help on the day.
Derek has agree to organise the 2016 competition and appealed to Clubs for more entries-We had 21 pairs in 2015.
FIXTURE LIST
Many thanks again to George Brewster for producing this. The first games in 2016 will be on 6th May and the final game on Sept 2nd with winners v the rest on the 9th.
