APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY
Bishop Monkton is taking on these positions. Pauline Beecroft will be the new Chairman and Basil Birchall the secretary.
George Brewster suggested that the results of matches be sent direct to him and members thanked him and agreed to this. His email and ‘phone number will be on the fixture list.
BATESON LEAGUE SHIELD REPORT
Bishop Monkton were winners of the league this year, with Northallerton second. They also hosted the winners v the rest game which was won by them. The winners v the rest game next year will be hosted by Sowerby Flatts on September 4th.
ELSDON METCALFE TROPHY REPORT
John thanked Derek Kirby for organising this event and asked him to give us a report. He thanked Thirsk and Graham White for once again hosting the event. Easingwold had the winning team (Keith Hughes & David Brown) and also the runners up (Sally Roocroft & Bruce Dobson). Congratulations. There were 38 entries this year and an overall profit of £20.50 was made.
Derek has agreed to organise the event again next year.
APPLICATION FROM LEYBURN TO JOIN THE LEAGUE
Leyburn wish to join the league and were represented at the meeting by Hazel Derby and Chris King. Peter Hardy from Bedale proposed their application and Basil Birchall seconded this. A show of hands was asked for and with a total of 5 in favour Leyburn are now members of the Bateson League. John thanked everyone and welcomed Leyburn. We were assured of a warm welcome at Leyburn by Hazel and Chris.
FIXTURE LIST
George Brewster was thanked for once again producing this for us. He distributed the fixtures with Leyburn replacing Ripon. The first game next year will be played on May 1st.
George brought to our attention a problem with the wording at the end of rule 1. At the moment it states that any postponed games should be played by the end of the season, and it was agreed that the wording should read ‘by the end of the fixtures’.
George will amend the wording. The rules can be found on the Bateson League web site.
A.O.B.
There was some discussion about rule changes. Boroughbridge would like the points system changed and some clubs would like the rule about conceded games clarified. It was decided to leave these possible changes until next year when clubs which would like changes should submit a written proposal before the AGM.
Graham White thanked John Pennock and Jean Woodhouse for their work during their term of office.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 2.45pm.
