BATESON LEAGUE SHIELD REPORT
Dishforth were congratulated on winning the shield, with Bishop Monkton the runners up. Northallerton were thanked for hosting the winners v the rest match. Bishop Monkton will host this game next year on 5th September.
ELSDON METCALFE TROPHY REPORT
John thanked Derek Kirby for organising this event and Frank Smith for arranging the trophies and the engraving. He thanked Thirsk for once again hosting the event. Graham White will inform us of next year’s date which will be as near as possible to 21st August.
Derek reported that there were 22entries this year as opposed to 15 the previous year, and encouraged us all to enter in 2014. The winners this year were Roger Tomlinson and David Chorlton from Northallerton and the runners up were Les and Margaret Lambert from Boroughbridge. Congratulations.
It was decided that in future there will be no runners up trophies, but that both the winners and runners up will receive a photograph of the presentation.
FIXTURE LIST
George Brewster was thanked for once again producing this for us.
LIST OF FUTURE CHAIRMAN AND HOSTS OF WINNERS V THE REST
WINNERS V THE REST 2YR CHAIRMANSHIP
Jean Woodhouse suggested that the job of minutes secretary should move with the chairmanship. This would enable ease of communication between the chairman and secretary as they would both be in the same club. Bishop Monkton, the next club to hold the chair, agreed that they could do this and all agreed.
RULES
Easingwold proposed that the scoring system (Rule 7) be changed to 2 points for each winning rink and 2 points for the aggregate. Thirsk seconded the proposal and a vote was taken. The vote was 4 for and 5 against. Rule 7 remains the same.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Bishop Monkton raised the matter of playing matches in very hot weather and suggested that clubs be allowed to rearrange match times with each other. It was agreed that this seemed a sensible suggestion. George Brewster pointed out that Rule 1 appeared to cover this suggestion.
John Pennock will contact Ripon to confirm that they will be playing next year. (They have since been contacted and are playing.)
Graham White thanked John Pennock and Jean Woodhouse for their work.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 2.55pm.
