Scooped water out from the raised bed for veggies

June 2 Mon

Watered the planted seeds

Transplanted the gerbera daisies.

Planted two sets of gladioli bulbs

transplanted the rosemary and set up the herbs

Bunnies - there are plenty of them.  You can see at least half a dozen playing in the evening across several houses.

June 3 - Tue

Hot today

scooped the water out of the raised bed on the side.  This was the run off due to watering yesterday

Looks like some of the dahlias are sprouting.  I had let them winter over but shielded them by jute cloth and a six inch layer of mulch.  They looked eaten

Watered them. spread some slug pellets.  Set up bird net around them to discourage bunnies from nibbling on them

June 4 - Wed

Hot - 88 today

Prepared the raised bed for veggie planting tomorrow when it is in the 70's

At least 3 bird nests in yard

June 5 - Thu

Finally - the veggies are in

Planted Zinnia tubers

Looks like the Zinnia seedlings are starting to sprout

So have the beans

Surprised peas are slower than beans

June 7 - Sat

Miraclegoed the perennials

Finished planting the dahlia tubers (front right)

Washed the deck furniture and part of deck

Outside on deck for the first time even if there was alert about bad air

Cut some peonies for inside

June 8 - Sun

Planted Dahlia seeds (first time)

harvested velcro weed to protect the new seedlings on deck from mouse/vole/bunny.  Did not want to place them on the table

June 9 - Mon

Big thunderstorm series today.  Staked the veggies

June 10 - Tue

Velcro weed did not help

Had to redo some zinnia seeds

Sowed cuke seeds directly

June 12 - Thu

Directly sowed zinnia seeds at the back

June 14 - Sat

Watered the veggies and the seedlings (morning)

Tied up the beans

Planted the mums plants I received from Bluestone Nursery (eve)

Gladioli and potted dahlia tubers are waking up

June 15 - Sun

Re-seeded the left bed of the garage as the previous seeds did not sprout

Direct seeded mexican sunflowers

Placed bunny barriers (supposedly) around the two roses at the back

Last yearby  this time the daisies had started blooming and so also the evening primrose.  So far it looks a couple od days away

Heavy downpour in evening

Planted Mexican sunflower seeds on Tuesday

June 19 - Thu

Staked pole beans

clipped low weeping cherry eaves

deheaded tree peonies and regular peonies

Evening primrose have started blooming

June 21 -Sat

resowed marigold sees for the deck - the young plants were eaten 

two more dahlia tubers seen to sprout

June 22 - 24 - Sun - Tue

A heat wave - three days of temperature over 90 - heat index over 100

resowed nasturtium seeds for deck - the brown did not sprout

have started to put bunny fences over the sprouting dahlias.  have ordered more

Thinned the flower seedlings

Prepared the front curved walkway for planting zinnias

Have to delay transplanting till late Monday as the bunny cages will only arrive Monday

Transplanted two cukes to replace direct seeding

Planted gladioli bulbs for harvest

Prepared planting holes for marigold on the right front

planted two more sets of gladioli for harvest

Deer still managed to eat the asiatic lily bulbs - thought it cannot see it or reach it.
