Week of June 1

Students will be finishing the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet this week, from the fallout of the climax to the resolution of this epic tale. Using the resources provided, both film and text, students will draw some final conclusions, using evidence, about the characters and tragic flaws that led to the final scene.

Week of May 25

Acts I and II

Students will begin enjoying the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet this week! They will be watching parts of a filmed production, as well as reading a portion of the script and closely examining the characters and major plot points.

Week of May 18

This week students will begin their unit on William Shakespeare’s famous play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. This has been a staple unit of the 8th grade curriculum for many years and although different, we are so excited for students to get this experience. They will start out by learning some background on Shakespeare, the Globe theater, sonnet structure, and how Shakespeare has found his way into modern popular culture.

Week of May 11

This will be our final week in And Then There Were None. Students will be finishing the small amount of reading left and completing a final analysis of their reading through guided comprehension.

Week of May 4th

This week students will continue their reading of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Once again we recommend that students both read and listen along with the audio link. Question sheets for each chapter will be provided to help students process their thinking as they read.

Reading and Analysis

This week students will begin And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Along with completing the assigned chapters for this week, students will also assess their comprehension through some suspect profiling, close reading activities, prediction making, and vocabulary analysis.

Pre-Reading Week

This week students will be investigating the author Agatha Christie as well as contextual background about the upcoming novel, And Then There Were None. They will do this by executing a WebQuest, viewing a YouTube video, answering guiding questions, and creating a Google Slide composed of their findings. All details will be posted by 8:15 in individual teacher's Google Classrooms and credit/revision needed/no credit communication will be posted in Aspen after work is collected and assessed.
