  2. Review a slide presentation on the types of conflict in literature

  3. Answer questions related to conflict in The Monsters are Due on Maple Street

  4. Answer questions related to analyzing text and citing evidence

Week of May 11

  1. Be an expert on The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas; make sure you’ve read and listened to the story.

  2. Use what you learned from your classmates during the May 12th online discussion.

  3. Take a side; formulate a position...Would you walk away from Omelas? Why or why not??

  4. Choose one of the 4 response options. Choose the option you feel is the most interesting & engaging.

  5. Craft your persuasive response. Be sure to use quotes from the text. Use the helpful tools available for each of the choices.

Check your work using the rubric. Assess yourself honestly.

Week of May 4

Students will read The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, and will discuss utopian and dystopian societies.

Week of April 27

Students will watch a video, read a poem and two articles, and complete critical thinking questions about the materials they have watched and read.

Week of April 13

Students will read "Click Clack the Rattle Bag" and learn about tone and mood in literature. Students will answer critical thinking questions and select an assignment from a menu of choices.

Week of April 6

"In ELA this week, you will be reading poetry (in celebration of National Poetry Month). You’ll also be reading the short story “Eleven,” and you will have a chance to check in with your teacher and other students to express yourself and answer some key questions about the texts."
