Week of June 8

The last learning plan of the year is for students to complete an end of year survey using Google Forms, then create a digital one page "scrapbook" with the highlights of geography class this year, including what they learned, what they found most interesting, and what some of the most memorable moments were.

Week of June 1

The assignment this week is for students to finish researching about an assigned country and global issue (that they were assigned back in February), read an article about the United Nations, then write a two paragraph report about their assigned country and global issue using their research notes.

Week of May 25

The assignment this week is for students to learn about international organizations. They will read an informational text and fill out a graphic organizer. Then they will read and annotate a kid-friendly version of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. Lastly, they will "take a stand" by choosing three of the 30 UN's identified human rights, and write a persuasive essay about why they chose those three, why they're important, what the world would (or does) look like without those rights, and if any of the rights they identified are in danger of being taken away.

Week of May 18

1. Watch a video about Europe and take notes.

2. Select one likes try they’re particularly interested in and do research about that country on the Britannica library database.

3. Create a final product from a list of choices to “report out” on their selected country.

Week of May 11

Students will complete notes on a TED Ed video, readings, analysis questions and take a guided virtual tour of Machu Picchu to learn about the civilization and contributions of the ancient Inca in South America.

Week of May 4th

Students will watch a video and take notes on Ancient Maya. They will complete a reading on Mayan Civilization, and create a postcard detailing life in the Ancient Mayan civilization.

Week of April 27

Students will be learning about colonial Australia. They will watch a video and take notes, complete readings from their online textbook, NewsELA article and provided documents. They will use information about life in colonial Australia to complete a RAFT assignment.

Week of April 13

Students will watch a video and take notes, and read and annotate multiple articles to complete a graphic organizer and persuasive essay, determining whether they believe Australia and Oceania have met the following UNsustainable development goal:

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.

Week of April 6

Students will be learning about North and South Korea. Activities include work on a Padlet, NewsELA, textbook reading, primary source reading, Google Form, TED talk, and completing an I see/I hear/It means chart.
