With the growing concern over plastic pollution, the Government of India has introduced strict regulations to manage plastic waste responsibly. Every manufacturer, importer, brand owner (PIBO), and plastic waste processor dealing with plastic packaging must comply with the Plastic Waste Management Rules. One of the most important requirements is obtaining Plastic Waste Approval, commonly known as Plastic Waste Management (PWM) Registration or EPR Authorization.

If your business manufactures, imports, sells, or uses plastic packaging, understanding Plastic Waste Approval is essential to avoid legal issues and operate smoothly in the Indian market.

At UMSPCS, we help businesses obtain Plastic Waste Approval quickly and efficiently while ensuring complete regulatory compliance.

What Is Plastic Waste Approval?

Plastic Waste Approval is a regulatory authorization issued under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, along with subsequent amendments introduced by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).

This approval ensures that companies manufacturing, importing, or using plastic packaging take responsibility for collecting, recycling, and managing the plastic waste generated from their products.

Businesses covered under this regulation include:

• Plastic manufacturers

• Importers

• Brand owners

• Producers

• Plastic waste processors

• Recyclers

• Compostable plastic manufacturers

The approval promotes responsible plastic waste management while encouraging recycling and environmental sustainability.
