Science:

Jax opened our day with prayer before we jumped right into our Solar System project. The goal today was cutting and gluing while we listened to a video about the milky way and a devotional about the Whirlpool Galaxy black hole that looks just like a cross. It’s as if God himself left his fingerprint in the stars. Then, we created our own Milky Way galaxy on a paper plate using a glitter glue swirl. Before we knew it, it was time for the superhero rally!

Geography:

We took a few minutes at the beginning of class to finish off our science project. Then we began our final continent for the year - North America! We watched a short video from National Geographic highlighting the unique beauty of our continent as I passed out the new country projects to eager squeals :) We walked through the basic physical features of North America and then created our watercolor map to show the oceans, seas, Rocky Mountains and Appalachian Mountains. As they painted I read them a story from "Missionary Stories with the Millers" about a man who served the people of the Afognak Island (near Alaska) after the 1964 earthquak and how God orchestrated just the right spaces for him to share God's love. Most finished the project in class, but I have put a picture above in case anyone needs to finish up the labels.

IEW:

After our break, I passed out the “Fishing” final drafts to be added to the final draft notebooks. The students will BRING THEIR FINAL DRAFT NOTEBOOKS NEXT WEEK. Miss Chelsea led the class in creating a KWO from the Louis Braille source. Some students were ready to move onto the fused outline. There will be two options again for homework. The students can practice writing from one outline and just use the first source OR they can use both sources and the fused outline to create their paragraph. And the best news…ASB came by to let us know that we made the Ice Cream Party with over 17K total minutes and Jackson was our top reader!!! Way to go!!!
