SCIENCE:

Jax opened our day with prayer after we got settled into our new TableTeams. We read a devotional by Louie Giglio about the changing seasons and the wonderful reality that our God never changes. We watched a quick video to review the seasons and Earth's rotation around the sun. We worked together to complete a fill-in-the-blank worksheet about season. Finally, we created a 4 seasons tree craft while Miss Chelsea read a poem for each season: "The Voice of Spring" by Mary Howitt, "Summer" by Gilman, "Harvest Thanksgiving" by Sir Henry Baker, and "Winter" by Shakespeare.

GEOGRAPHY:

After Avery shared about her trip to Texas while we finished up our Seasons craft, we got started on our Africa Escape Room. In order to retrieve our "Africa research project" from the locked safe under our brother's bed, we had to find the code...and quick! I put a few foods that can be found in Africa on each table for teams to enjoy during the adventure: dates, plantains, and Madagascar chocolate! Every team was able to solve the code in time! Those who finished early wrote one thing they learned on the white board.

IEW:

The memory verse for this week was about God being the light of the world. We took a moment to talk about our relationship to light and how it reflects our relationship to God. It was a really beautiful conversation leading to some powerful "ah-ha" moments. We discussed the two options for IEW assignments for this week. Next, we spent some time reviewing the who/which clause. Then I showed an example on the TV of a student who wrote a solid rough draft. We examined it together noticing the things this student did well and how we might improve our own work. I passed out the "Tasty Nest" and "Honeybees" rough drafts and gave students time to ask me questions one-on-one while the TableTeams each worked on a MadLib to review nouns/verbs/adjectives. Abbie finished us off for the day by reading her awesome rough draft of "Honeybees".
