Conclusion

Conclusion

In concluding this long tale of my work at our lovely Church, I wish to state a few thoughts and my thanks to key people. I want to first say that I stayed active for so many years—15 plus—because I have the deepest respect and love for our Senior Minister, Jeff Crittenden. His leadership at Met United is the reason for my services as Chair of the Property Committee and as a member of the Board of Elders. (Oh, how I enjoyed the Elders’ meetings.)

John Lee, my son-in-law, needs so many thank-yous for his wonderful accomplishments looking after our Church. His help to me was so invaluable. In fact, it was a partnership.

Besides other great work Al Herrington does for our Church, he was always ready to help me in many ways. He would keep me in check, letting me know what he was thinking, and many times caused me to reconsider and change my ideas. For example, the number of spotlights on the towers, the colour of the ramp railing, etc.

The upkeep and maintenance of Metropolitan United Church is a never-ending task. While much has been taken care of, much more is still to be done, and I am confident it will continue.

I wish to conclude by saying ‘thank you’ to the incredible members of our congregation of Metropolitan. Without their generosity, very little would have been done or even started. I believe I have used nearly $3M of their donated money in all the projects with which I’ve been involved.

As the chairman of the Property Committee, I was also a member of the Committee of Stewards (2005 – 2007) and the Board of Elders (2014 – 2021). I enjoyed serving Met United as an Elder for 13 years.

On the celebration of our 200th anniversary in 2023, I thank all of you for the privilege of serving the needs of our Church.
