The Ascension Window

Balcony: North Triptych Windows

The three lights in the north balcony are known as the Ascension window, but in fact they depict much more. On the left are scenes of the Annunciation of Mary, and the Nativity, and on the right is Christ's Crucifixion above the scene of his Resurrection, where he bears is the Stigmata, and carries a staff and banner. In the centre the hand of God and a dove point to the ascended Christ framed in a Mandator, haloed, crowned and triumphant over the world.

As the words from the Messiah state: "Hallelujah, for the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth." This window was designed by Christopher Wallis for installation between 1962 in 1964, and was donated by Colonel Woodward in memory of his wife.
