Metropolitan has been blessed with a rich heritage of preaching. On this page we have a number of audio recordings of sermons from our past ministers.
BOYD--R. Maurice, 77, of New York City and Tobermory, Ontario died on March 24, 2009 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Boyd was a preacher, author, and lecturer of international renown, and created a radio ministry that engaged listeners throughout the tri-state area. His service spanned over sixty years and included positions as the Senior Minister of Metropolitan Church in London, Ontario, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York, and ultimately, The City Church, New York, an independent, inter-denominational organization founded in 1993. (From the New York Times obituary)
REV. GEORGE W. GOTH, BD. was the Minister of Metropolitan United Church, London, from 1948 until his retirement in 1975. Dr. Goth was born and attended public and high schools in Ottawa, received his BA from McGill University, and BD from Union Theological Seminary, New York. His first charge was in the Ottawa Valley at Quyon. He later served at Pakenham; St. Paul's United Church, Brandon, Westmount Park Church, Montreal, then eventually settled here in London.
The following three sermons are the earliest sermon for which we have recordings, even though they are from the end of Dr. Goth's time as the Minister of Metropolitan.
