Thingsboard

In a visit earlier this year (2021) to Substation33, I met their computer scientist James, who showed me their Thingsboard system and live data from their road flood sensor and tidal sensor at some rivers in Queensland. That was an amazing experience to know such open-source IoT platform in action.

I was not able to install Thingsboard after the visit because my VPS server is a few years old, still running Debian 8. Finally, in late August, I have got some time to upgrade my server system to Debian 10, so it meets the requirement for installing the required JDK and PostgreSQL database, then Thingsboard CE v3.2.2 is installed on the domain https://iot.code3d.xyz/

So far, I have released two testing Dashboards that can be viewed live by the public:

After a few days of data collection, I get to understand the relationships between temperature and humidity, and between soil moisture and humidity. More STEM learning could be facilitated with this Thingsboard platform.

At this moment, this https://iot.code3d.xyz platform is setup for MakerClubQUT. If you are interested in using this platform to collect data, please contact us to inquire how to become a tenant and/or a customer.
