About

Club Motto

Learn to make, make to learn!

Club Philosophy

To make things is human nature. We think, reason, plan, design, Make, evaluate, share, and then over again the same or different projects.  Although we only use the word Make for this Maker Club, all of the thinking, reasoning, planning, designing, evaluating and sharing are encompassed when we make things, either individually or collaboratively.

We believe that these is great value in making things, and there is a need to cultivate the Maker Culture through education. Education should provide opportunities for learners to experience the creative processes of making, and in turn the learners are developing knowledge and skills that are fundamental to their schooling, life and career.

Club Aims (Current focuses)

The scope of making things has no boundary but we are limited to certain resources and support available in our context. We are currently utilising some public spaces in E Block and the Library at Kelvin Grove campus for workshop and making activities. Due to limited facilities and safety requirements, we are focusing on making with safe and easily accessible tools such as:

We use mostly open sources and free tools, and recyclable materials for making things.

The things we make are for personal interests (e.g., 3D print a baby Groot or a toy), self challenges (e.g., coding or modelling a robotic arm), and/or for school/university assignments (e.g., developing a learning activity for young children, designing a digital art).

We have a strong focus on education and we aim to provide professional development workshops for teachers and maker camps for school students. Please contact us if any inquiries regarding workshops for teachers and students.
