Kia ora whānau
We hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. All the staff had a Teacher Only Day on Tuesday where we worked together using the Emotional Cultural Deck to further support us to grow as a staff - which is one of our strategic goals: Tupu - All our people will be inspired and empowered to learn.
Last week we welcomed Rob from Kids Online presented about Cyber Safety to a group of parents from Lyall Bay, Roseneath and Miramar North schools. All the whānau that were there were informed of how vigilant parents need to be to keep their tamariki safe. We were all shocked by what tamariki can easily access, can Rob shared some great points. One that struck me was the excuse that tamariki are 'missing out' by not having a phone or access to games and apps, Rob asked 'What are they missing out on? Online violence? Body dysmorphia?...', so true. Please, if you went to the evening share your new knowledge with others, if you didn't go please ask around and find out who did go and get them to share with you. If you get an opportunity to attend please make the effort, it is worth it. When we receive any onfo from Kids Online we will put it here.
We held our school Athletic Sports at Newtown Park on the first Friday back at school. What a success. It was wonderful to see so many whānau supporting their tamariki. Everyone had a great time and tried their very best, ka pai. We have some outstanding athletes, the following tamariki have qualified for Eastern Zones. Tino pai.
With the days being warmer we find that tamariki are taking extra layers off as the day goes on, please make sure all clothes are clearly named so they can easily be returned to the rightful owner. We try and keep all tamariki protected from the sun so full brimmed sunhats are compulsory this term.
