Talofa lava,
The time is almost here for our Dance Festival. Everyone is so excited and we hope you have managed to get tickets. There will be no show on Thursday 22nd, as we have opened up for more tickets on Wednesday.
Information has gone out on HERO, and it is here again so you can find it more easily.
Here’s everything you need to know:
Doors open 15 minutes before each show:
12:45 pm
2:45 pm
4:45 pm
We need time to set up between shows, so please don’t arrive too early.
Enter through the hall double doors (opposite Ahu), not the office.
Feel free to take photos or videos – just stay seated and don’t block others.
Please do not upload anything to social media.
Tamariki should bring their usual morning tea and lunch.
We’ll provide afternoon tea between the 3 pm and 5 pm shows.
You're welcome to pack extra food, but no sweets, chocolate or sugary drinks please – just water.
You can park on the courts.
Please don’t block anyone in.
Tamariki stay until after the final show (around 6:20 pm).
We’ll have snacks, but you can pack extras if you like.
Pick-up spots:
If you're at the 5 pm show, pick up Huetepara tamariki from the hall.
If you’re at an earlier show, Huetepara tamariki will wait in Ahu for you to come in and get them. I you get here before the show is finished you can wait in Ahu for them.
All other tamariki will be in Onepū.
Maranui: Pick up from Hautonga Hub (Queens Drive entrance).
Onepū: Pick up from Hauraki Hub (enter through library doors).
Programme:
There will be one programme between two,
Please make sure that each whānau has access to a programme to share.
On the back of the programme is a QR code to scan to fill in a survey looking ahead to our Strategic Plan for 2026 - 2029. We want to find out what you think are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for us as a school. This will help the Board of Trustees to develop the Strategic Plan.
The show is performed ‘in the round’, with the audience all around the stage.
Ask your tamariki where the best spot is to see them – no assigned seating.
Please keep the aisles clear for the dancers.
Tickets are being sent home today – check your eldest child’s bag!
Missed out? We might run another show on Thursday at 1:30 pm.
Let us know by filling in the survey if you're keen, we will let anyone who fills it in know by Tuesday.
Thanks so much for your support – we can't wait to see you there!
Newsletters are sent out in weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 each term. There is a lot more information on HERO from kaiako for you too. If you are not seeing more information on HERO, please let us know and we will try to fix that for you.
If you want to look through any of our policies these are online for you. Please enter schooldocs.co.nz into the browser, the community name is lyallbay and the password is maranui. You can search for any policy in there.
SWIS have invited us to join them to 'Our Kids Online'. This is a talk about online safety and how parents can be part of the solution for their children. We have had 'Our Kids Online' at Lyall Bay before, and those whānau who came were blown away with what tamariki can access, but also with what whānau can do about it. Please join this conversation for the benefit of your tamariki. It is on May 22nd, at 6:30 pm. It is not suitable for tamariki to attend. See information below.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow to celebrate amazing learning at our Dance Festival.
