Congratulations, ka pai.
The Readathon sponsorship money is all due back now. Many thanks to all those whanau who have participated. If it is easier than sending cash to school, please feel free to make a direct internet transfer to FoLBS bank account, 12-3481-0009279-00. Please still send in your forms, so you can go into the draw for spot prizes! These will be drawn by FoLBS. If you have any questions, please let the kaiako of the hub know. So far, we have raised an amazing $4,973.60!! Can we make it higher????
The Friends of Lyall Bay School meeting tonight is via Google Meets, please feel free to join them. Details are in the Dates to Diary.
We are planning for 2023. If you would like some input into the kind of environment that your child does best in, then please let me know by this Friday, 18th November. Kaiako are not yet in set spaces, so please do not request a particular kaiako, as that kaiako may not be in that room for 2023! We also ask that you do not ask for your child to be with a particular group of friends. This can get tricky if other parents have asked for something quite different. Our kaiako do know our tamariki well and always try to make sure they are with others they know. As our classes all work collaboratively, there are always opportunities for tamariki to be with different groups.
Some of our kaiako have decided that now is the time to venture out into the world, which is sad for us, but exciting for them! At the end of the year we will be farewelling Mr Gaskin, Ms Tuinman-Bell and Miss Grace, who are planning to move overseas, and Miss Loutje who is moving to be closer to whānau on the Kāpiti Coast. We are in the process of finalising kaiako for 2023.
Our W.A.T.P (Waihangatia ngā Ākonga Tino Pai) Hui will be on the afternoon of Wednesday, 23rd November, and the morning of Friday 25th. This is an opportunity for you to come and hear about Huetepara (Yr 1-2) Wednesday @ 3.15 - 3.45, Maranui (Yr 3-4) Wednesday @ 3.45 - 4.15 or Onepū (Yr 5-6) Wednesday @ 4.15 - 4.45, so we can continue to live our vision of Waihangatia ngā Ākonga Tino Pai Building the Best Learners. The Friday session will be in the hall before school at 8.30am. Please email myself (principal@lyallbay.school.nz), Amanda (amandaw@lyallbay.school.nz) or Jo (jo.graham@lyallbay.school.nz) any questions you have, so we can be prepared. Please attend the session for the year group your tamariki will be in for 2023!
Hats are required to be worn for terms 4 and 1 of the school year. This is to protect everyone from the damaging rays of the sun. If tamariki do not have a hat (not a cap as these do not protect the back of the neck and ears), then they will be asked to stay in the shade when outside.
Kaiako continue to write Timely Report Comments for your tamariki. These are all on HERO and are linked to celebrating the learning and progress of tamariki. You can add a comment yourself or 'like' the comment that is there. If you are having trouble accessing these, please let the kaiako know and they will help you. Later this term there will also be a post sharing which curriculum level they are currently working at. Usually tamariki in Yrs 1-2 are working at curriculum level 1, in Yrs 3-4 they are working within curriculum level 2 and in Yrs 5-6 working within curriculum level 3.
This term we are awarding a Cleanest Hub certificate each week. So far, the Hubs who have won this are Hauraki, Au Harō and Hautonga. At the end of the term the hub with the largest number so certificates will win a prize!!
Noho ora mai,
Melanie
