The Spoon is a World Government contracted facility that is worked by blacksmith samurai. This is the main weapon factory in the East Blue. It is a huge forgery that creates weapons in mass. Two massive towers suspend a midsection in the air, where the weapons are created and then dropped down below into a payload. A riot recently took place here.
Shimotuski Village has remained the same in its traditions. Farm land stretches out across the village and there are plenty of people who practice in the ways of the samurai.
A village in homage to the late Roronoa Zoro, the legendary pirate who was the first mate of Monkey D. Luffy. The samurai here have adopted the three-sword style and train with it strictly.
There is a small marine base near the Spoon to ensure that things go accordingly at the weapon creation facility.

Local trading happens between the two villages, but the economy is mainly supported by World Government funds. By allowing the Spoon to continue its operations and hiring out the talented blacksmiths, the island lives without many worries economically.
Shimotsuki has hills to its north which surround the farmland. The Spoon is visible directly opposite of the mountainous hills to the east.
Not much is known about the peaceful Shimotsuki Village and what transpired in the hundred years since Monkey D. Luffy’s crowning, but what is known is that the World Government contracted out the samurai here for a great deal of beli. This led to Shimotsuki to become the main weapon factory for the East Blue.
Shimotsuki Village remained the same and has been diligent in its practices. A rival village known as Roronoa Village sprouted up and began practicing the three-sword style to honor Roronoa Zoro.
The two villages often engage in samurai battles to determine who practices better swordsmanship: the village that spawned Roronoa Zoro or the one that honors him. This samurai tournament happens twice a month between disciples and seeks to strengthen the way of the samurai.
Katsu Kaseki started a riot in the Spoon, realizing over time that he would never have fame if he stayed behind bars. Cheng Ping and the start of the Bad News Pirates heard about a powerful item kept in the same facility. After some infiltration, Katsu and Cheng met, and Cheng allowed the riot to spread throughout the Spoon. After a visit to the armory, where Katsu was reunited with his axe and Cheng got the power of the Buku Buku no Mi without expecting it, the newfound team scuffles one last time with Katsu’s jail nemesis, a marine officer named Runes, before fleeing a fire.
Outside, they met Whine and ate together before leaving following much chaos as Whine and Katsu ate essentially all the food of an inn and Katsu in particular took a heavy-handed approach of leaving by stealing a bottle of rum with a threat of violence. Cheng hardly did better by openly refusing to pay the inn for the food they lost that day before taking on the sea again.
Locals in Shimotsuki are now more apprehensive towards foreigners due to the chaos caused by the pirates. The Spoon is now weakened from the riots, and more prone to attacks.
The Marine’s 8th Branch were called to Shimotsuki Village to clean up the mess made by a recent prison riot. Upon arriving, Einhardt investigated and spoke with villagers about an attack that had happened in the bar.
While picking up two new recruits from the island to join the 8th’s ranks, Einhardt and Cecil used surveillance footage and survivor’s testimonials to piece together everything that had happened both before and after the prison riot and where the weaknesses in the prison’s defenses and regulations were.
After battling and capturing the few rioters who had yet to flee the island, the 8th Branch assisted in the reconstruction of destroyed sectors of the spoon. The mayor was also given a line of communication to the marines to notify them if the pirates returned to the island once again.
