The Three Swords Casino is one of the largest casinos in Shells Town, based around the right hand man of the pirate king Roronoa Zoro and his famous three blades. The casino itself isn’t super special apart from its Zoro themed gambling, such as instead of cherries you try to get his three blades to win the big jackpot.
This casino is known to have a rivalry with the Strawhat Casino, both owners knowing to constantly feud about what to do with the island.
The Strawhat Casino is the second largest casino in Shells Town, being based around their hero Monkey D. Luffy and centring many machines about his adventures throughout the East Blue. The casino even claims to own apparel the real Luffy wore, namely his original jacket and shorts; it’s unknown if this is true or not but they do parade it around as if it is. Due to a robbery, the casino no longer has Luffy's pants.
The casino is known to constantly feud with the Three Sword Casino, the owners apparently having a long family feud about who should have ownership of the island.
As of right now, the Straw Hat casino is closed due to a robbery.
Roulette du destin is the place where rich men are made and men are cast into slavery. Captain Morgan’s giant marine base has been transformed into a giant roulette wheel where people can bet large amounts of money or even their life for giant cash prizes.
Whenever someone uses the roulette bells chime all over the island calling people to come watch the people succumb to their fate, a truly amazing yet horrifying spectacle.
The Elite are the richest of Shells Town, consisting of casino owners and those who got lucky enough to win vast amounts of wealth. These people are known for not only advertising but keeping the city itself running, each owning a portion of the island.
It is said they meet monthly to discuss new attractions and ways to swindle the rich out of more of their money.
The workforce are those who went in debt to the island, losing themselves to gambling and being forced to work for their freedom as slaves on the island. Every worker one sees on the island is one of these poor souls, sentenced to what seems to be eternal work with nowhere to rest.
If one was to explore the island they would easily find workers like this scattered all over, with nowhere to sleep. They bury themselves in alleyways of the casinos hiding from other members so they don’t have to work themselves to death for another minute.
Shells Town is a thriving economy, being the main tourist hotspot within the East Blue. Many rich people visit the islands, from nobles to royalty all hoping to expand their riches even further by betting it on their luck. Though the island itself has no exports, relying solely on the temptation of man to succeed.
Flora within Shells Town is non-existent, any piece of grass being built on in hopes to waste no space. It has become a solely man made island, in hopes of maximizing profits as much as possible.
After the defeat of Captain Morgan at the hands of “Strawhat” Luffy and “Pirate Hunter” Zoro, Shells Town became a paradise believing in freedom to do what one wants more than anything. Many citizens lived happily with this in mind, opening casinos and committing petty crimes under the nose of now much lazier marines.
Slowly but surely wealth began to flow into the owners of the casinos and those lucky enough to win big bucks, enough for the marines to investigate and get trapped into the vicious cycle of gambling itself absorbing them and the town itself. Quickly the town began to advertise itself, drawing unsuspecting travelers from over the East Blue into their small casinos in hopes to take everything they were worth.
But this was still somewhat excusable, they didn’t take it too far and neither did anyone else. It was a good money maker but it wasn’t anything to truly write home about, well that was until the crowning of Monkey D. Luffy as king of the pirates. The excess of people and wealth flocking to the East Blue to see where the pirate king was raised drove more and more wealth into the pockets of the casinos.
Shells Town expanded to an unprecedented degree in a small amount of time, becoming a tourist attraction like none other. The small island is covered in towering buildings, blinding neon lights and an aura of pure freedom. Only stopping once they couldn’t fit anymore on the island, instead with the wealthy conglomerating their wealth and using it to draw in more power from those in the EB.
Nowadays Shells Town is a tourist hotspot, known to attract the richest of the EB to its abundant wealth.
But as wealth increased so did the consequences for going into debt to the island, people began to bet their lives for money in hopes of bringing their family out of slums and into high societies. These people are said to be sold to the island as slaves if they lose the bet, becoming one of the many workers inside the casinos trying to work off their life debt.
Following the agreement to a temporary alliance between Cheng and Vexus, the two of them infiltrated the Strawhat Casino with Cheng under the guise of a wealthy heiress with too much money to spend, and Vexus hidden inside a bag to be disguised as a heavy bag filled with money. Cheng’s silver tongue convinced the casino’s staff to place the bag inside their vault to keep the contents safe.
Things took a sharp turn for the worse when Katsu and Piper coincidently marched into the Strawhat Casino for a robbery. Katsu’s mad rampage with his ax triggered the casino to go into lockdown, trapping Vexus inside the vault, but he managed to break himself out using a combination of electro with his knowledge of safes, and ran away with a devil fruit, the Ryu Ryu no mi, Model: Ankylosaurus. Katsu and Piper convinced (intimidated) the staff into opening the vault before anyone else got hurt, and they collected as much treasure as they could carry. Vexus used the panicking crowd to his advantage and stole Luffy’s pants while no one was paying attention.
Cheng left early and went to the docks to purchase a ship for the newly formed Bad News Pirates. Katsu, Piper, and Vexus started running when the marines arrived, during which Katsu ate the devil fruit that Vexus stole and used his newfound powers to charge a path through the marines.
The actions of the chaotic quartet resulted in Strawhat Casino closing for business for at least the coming week until they complete repairs and liquidate enough resources to replenish their stolen capital. Monkey D. Luffy’s pants, the prized treasure that gave the casino their name, have been stolen by the Bad News Pirates.
