Powers and Limitations

Even the simplest Devil Fruits can have unlimited potential, as we have seen in the series. However, for the sake of progression and balance, characters do not start with the full capabilities of their Devil Fruit right away. This also applies to custom Devil Fruits.

Tier 0 to Tier 2: Basic utility and function

Tier 3: One ability that is distinct but still related to the core theme of the Devil Fruit

Tier 4: One ability that is distinct but still related to the core theme of the Devil Fruit

Tier 5: One ability that is related to the core theme of the Devil Fruit

Two examples are given below, one using a simpler fruit (Mera Mera no Mi) and the other using a fruit with more canon abilities (Kage Kage no Mi).

Mera Mera no Mi

Tier 0 to Tier 2: The user can create, control, and become fire.

Tier 3: The user can eject flames from different parts of their body to achieve pseudo-flight.

Kage Kage no Mi

Tier 0 to Tier 2: The user can steal shadows and inject them into corpses.

Tier 3: The user can manifest their own shadow as a semi-liquid physical form and make it fight in their stead.

Tier 4: The user can also switch places with their shadow in order to get to different places.

Tier 5: The user can retrieve the shadows they had implanted into their zombie minions and absorb them for a power boost.

Advanced Abilities

If you wish, you may come up with advanced abilities that are gradually unlocked at higher tiers. Once a submission is made, staff will reply with one of three verdicts:

1) The abilities are approved for free. No extra fragments are necessary.

2) The abilities are approved, but extra fragments need to be paid

3) The abilities are disapproved because they are either too strong or do not adhere to the core theme of the devil fruit.

Custom Fruits

To submit advanced abilities for a custom fruit, please add them to the custom devil fruit template and submit it in #fruit-submission with a note that the submission is for advanced abilities.

Canon Fruits

To submit advanced abilities for a canon fruit, please fill in this template and submit it in #fruit-submission with a note that the submission is for advanced abilities. You only need to do this if you are adding non-canon abilities to a canon fruit.
