The former location of Gold Roger’s execution. It is now a place for the homeless and those who are usually engaged in some form of petty theft. It is a gathering place during the day for card playing, gambling, and betting. Central Square has historically been a battleground for rival pirate gangs in Loguetown.
The safest district in Loguetown. Headed by the grumpy eater, Baelmort, the district is a chain of blocks that are walled off from the rest of Loguetown and guarded by the Baelmort Company, a group of bounty hunters who reside in the city. Most of the rich reside in the Balemort District and pay the company in exchange for their protection services.
In general, Loguetown is a warzone full of trash and criminals. After Goa Kingdom successfully took the town, they started dumping their trash on the island and destroyed the prosperity of Loguetown. What is left of the city are competing rival pirate gangs that vie for power over the island in constant battles.
Behind the hills that conceal Loguetown, is Point 7. A massive davy back fight that takes place once a month to exchange crew members between the seven great crews that reside in Loguetown. It is called Point 7 because of this and because seven crew members are usually chosen for the davy back fight.
A group of bounty hunters that have sectioned off a portion of Loguetown as their base of operations in hunting the seven pirate gangs that inhabit the city.
The strongest pirate gangs within Loguetown. There are lesser pirate gangs, but the strongest seven have remained consistent for many years.
The Underground Connection
The Underground Connection, compared to other gangs, is known to flaunt just how "well-structured" it is compared to its Loguetown competition. Associated with the color black, their main operations tend to revolve around, as their name suggests, their connection to the criminal Underworld that affects all the seas in the world. Their main focus is on control, whether it is by crushing hierarchy and ridiculous paperwork, social pressure, or simply corrective beatdowns.
The gang is led by a man commonly known as Bugs. From the outside, he is quite unassuming, even blending with the population of Loguetown on some rare occasions. He's also known to keep a lot of bug nests on a roof above his office, like a beehive for example. But under this appearance is a trickster of a person, with hidden plots against just about anyone, including his higher up elements. He also is quite protective of the structure he has imagined, and of course this meant that when Cheng Ping not only went AWOL on the gang, but even more so when she attempted to rise into the ranks, he became irrationally furious that someone would challenge him that way. The feeling has soured further after Cheng's actions before leaving Loguetown.
His combat style involves the insects he has trained for so many years. With a set of whistles, he can give specific orders to specific groups and observe as any opponent gets assaulted by waves of bugs. While he favors indirect combat, he is still capable of defending himself with a rifle hidden as a large walking stick. However, he is reliably bad when someone goes for close combat, which is why, as a person, he had numerous issues winning Davy Back Fights.
Ever since Cheng's fabricated events, the gang has been preparing for a conflict, not even hiding it from the Vermillion League or other gangs in Loguetown...
Vermillion League
‘Peace’ and ‘Negotiating’ are two words that aren’t in the League’s dictionaries. Symbolized by the color red, the Vermillion League have a reputation of being one of the most violent gangs in Loguetown. Anyone who enters their territory gets either beaten or killed. They don’t focus on extortion, soft power, or anything of the sort. Raw, martial strength is the name of the game.
The League is headed by Yuuki Dante, a 1/4 Oni who’s made out of pure muscle. He is a man who is casually violent. When you first meet him, you may feel like his notorious reputation doesn’t fit who he actually is. He enjoys a good laugh, booze, fighting, and women. Especially women, so much it’s a weakness. He has fathered many children in the East Blue, including Whine. However, when someone harms a member of his gang he has a complete mood switch, becoming furious.
His fighting style is simple. No weapons, just what he was born with. He’s faster than one would expect, and either goes all out with aggression or displays his might (i.e. flicking a man across the room). However, his preference of simple combat can be used against him. He is generally unable to win Davy Back Fights as he falls for any tricks or dirty tactics, and almost always refuses to use them himself. He’s not very useful in games during Davy Back Fights, since those are often too different from his expertise in simple, fair fights.
As well as due to events fabricated by Cheng Ping, there are high tensions between the Vermillion League and the Underground Connection.
Loguetown has little to no economy. Trading occurs and pirates make deals, steal, and ransom off valuables. Though, since there is not one main power within Loguetown, it is more of a battleground in trash and unkept buildings, making the economy poor.
Loguetown covers most of the island it is situated on, but behind the hill that tucks Loguetown away from the other side, is a small forest with a beach where the davy back fights are held. Otherwise, known as Point 7.
Loguetown had long been a symbol of piracy ever since the execution of Gold Roger, the first king of the pirates. With the Age of Warring, Loguetown was quickly disassembled by the changing times. Goa Kingdom took the town and began dumping their trash on the island after claiming what looked like complete supremacy in the East Blue at the time.
Because of this, marine presence was removed from the island completely and the town became a haven for criminals all around the East Blue. Pirate gangs immediately within the city and from sea-faring began to stake their claim in the city, leading to a seven-way stalemate between rival pirate gangs. This culture has existed alongside the trash for many years, causing people who are raised within the gangs or in Loguetown, to join the gangs and bolster their forces.
Due to the nature of the piracy within Loguetown, twenty years ago, Baelmort and his company took a portion of the city for themselves and have been working on capturing the fugitives within the city. It is nearly impossible to remove crime from the city, as the pirates have virtually become families instead of roaming criminals.
In hopes of one day breaking the balance of the seven pirate gangs, Point 7 was created. Point 7 is a davy back fight between the crews that occurs once a month to gain vital crew members. For better or worse, the families see Point 7 as the eventual solution to declaring a winner among the seven gangs in Loguetown. This davy back fight occurs in secret, unbeknownst to the Baelmort company.
To escape the grasp of her previous gang, the Underworld Connection, Cheng Ping worked on creating events that would cause a gang conflict between said gang and their rival Vermillion League, with the hopes that it would distract them enough to allow her to escape because they’re two of the pirate gangs ruling the city. Her efforts included spreading rumours in the central plaza of Loguetown, painting some buildings of each gang in the opposite gang’s colors, and even acquiring confidential information from a rival gang’s enforcer, Capa.
In the process, she made herself two allies of circumstances, Capa and Bad News Bear, and fought an enforcer of her own gang, named Tobias. After the fight, she arranged Tobias’ unconscious body to make it seem like he had a fight with the rival gang during the night before fleeing the town.
Currently there is high tensions between the Underworld Connection and the Vermillion League, and an all-out gang war is a very real possibility in Loguetown.
